I know I don't actually own it yet, but I am getting excited. Paid my deposit and just waiting for the Cam and Aux belts to be changed and a tyre replaced then i'll pay for it and pick it up.

These are just the pics from the Auto Trder advert, will get my own when I pick it up.

Nice wheels! They really suit it mate! Congrats on your purchase! Enjoy it ;)

Lol, yeah did sound a bit daft but we are all the same when a new car is involved lol.

What are the plans for it if any?

Glad i'm not the only one who get's excited. :D

My plan is............ to not have a plan for it. I really like it as it is. I have 2 kids so got to keep them happy (they hate my other car, its noisy and bumpy). It has a CAT back S/S exhaust and painted wheels, that's prob how it'll stay. Just plenty of cleaning and polishing to keep it looking nice.

My turbo'd Satria GTI will be the 'project car', it currently has 229ATF and 205ATW, with a boost controller yet to be plumbed in :approve:. going to strip the proton out and make it a track car.

Thanks for all the kind comments. The car will stay pretty much as it is (maybe go for the brembo discs and ferdo pads i've heard mentioned) and I know how to use the search function on forums so i'll probably not make a lot of posts but i'll be about.

I like the sound of the Proton! Make a project thread for it in the General Automotive section :)

Looks nice mate, glad you finally got sorted :)

Thanks, will possibly see you at one of the meets

I will get a thread started for the Proton (just got to wait for my payment to clear), there's a 47 page thread on the proton site about turboing it, but i'll just put up some 'highlights' on here for now and update it with the next stage of the 'project'.

It's amazing how many people are suprised when I say I have a 205bhp atw from a proton I paid £500 for originally.

Looks ace that, the bullets need doing in grey to match the rest and then it'll be spot on!

Please excuse the noob's lack of familiarity with some of the terminology, but bullets?

Are those the 2.0 badges on the doors?? :o:o:o

Car will be ready to pick up from tomorrow afternoon, but I can't get there until Friday, so it'll be coming home with me on Friday. Will give it a good wash and get some decent photo's as soon as I can.

Best of luck with it mate, looks nice :)
I was 24 when I got mine, I was like a kid at Christmas too! Then again it was Dec 21st when I lifted it :p

Welcome along fella.

I see you're from County Durham. Get yourself down on the members list, you'll receive PM's re meets, etc. (PM one of the Mods). Nice pics.

Thanks again to all for the welcomes and the kind comments.

I have sent Geddes a PM about being on the north east list and I have subscribed to the latest meet thread. My lass works nights and we have 2 kids so I aint sure if i'll be able to make it.

Going to clean it (properly) tomorrow, but took a couple of pics today when I went to South Shields.

Also, it has a Janspeed CAT back exhaust. After doing a quick search on here, it seems they are reasonably well rated, so that's a bit of a bonus.

Managed to get a full cam belt (inc tensioners etc) and aux belt change in with the price. It has full history and has been well looked after (from what I can tell so far).

going to an Autocross event tomorrow and the car will be on a stand (ye, an Autocross event is a bit of an odd place to have a car forum stand) so cleaned it today.

There's loads of marks on the paintwork but the car is 5yrs old and has 40k miles on it, so can't really expect much more.

I have just added my name to the steering wheel insert list because of this....................
