Standard Engine Bay :
Right ever since getting the car I noticed that as the air filter is at the back of the engine then the plenum on the side of the engine is only there for noise damping, a quick drive with the plenum removed confirmed this as a mucho cool noise was produced
.
The problem was that as the airbox entry was at the back of the bay it was only ever going to suck hot air in, so when I saw some ducting floating around I had an idea and this is the result :
Yep, thats electrical tape sealing it because the problem is the airbox entry is oval and the duct is round and when squashed to shape doesn't perfectly fit over it, so thats sealing it.
Yes it is possibly the most rough thing i've ever seen but it was only a test to see if it would work which it does, if I could find a way to sort out the problem of the oval airbox then it wouldn't look too bad but I can't think of anything as of yet.
But the noise is ace, people actually turn around when I put my foot down at low speeds
, need to think of something permanent though because this noise needs to be a permanent fixture.
