My engine problem was.... THIS....

so there it is, the whole reason why my engine seized, and my crank wouldnt budge...

EVENTUALLY got the sump off.... and then saw some little pieces of metal in it...

the shell had actually stuck to the crank shaft...... then when we took it off, we saw that the crank will need regrinding - slight scuff marks (its was on number 2)

So......... LUCKY LUCKY ME!!!

well... it could be ALOT worse...

im simply looking at a new set of shells, and then regrinding the crank... obviously do a bit of cleaning up internally, steam wash etc.. and get a new oil pump in there...

then we will be away... and if luke is reading this, it will be very much for sale after all the work is done...

Im lucky it didnt do any excessive damage really, and that i stopped it when i did... but yeh... WILL BE AS GOOD AS NEW WHEN SORTED!!

what would actually cause this - i have been told by several people, oil starvation - would this explain temp to rise so drastically??

If it is oil starvation, whats best to check - i had a look at the oil pump and that seems fine! ....Hmmm...
Or could it just be "general wear and tear?"

looks like oil starvation, if it was me, id replace the oil pump and chain just to be sure

youll be needing oversized bearings with the regrind

are they main bearings, or rod bearings??? (im guessing main)

where can i get hold of an oil pump other than renault, looked on gsf, ktec, and bb and they dont do them....

ask for matt, youll have to 118500 for the number
