My first big slide !!

  Black 182 + Recaros

Just had a massive fright. Entered a roudabout, not very fast, and started to loose the front end, I tried correcting the front and then the car started drifting sideways. I thought I was gonna loose it altogether, then suddenly the car gained some grip and sorted itself out.

Im not sure if this was ESP helping me out or the road became more grippy.

Either way, it scared the sh*t out of me. My first real big slide.

I wasnt going fast at all so it was totally unexpected. It wasnt raining either, but it was slighty damp. I dont think my Yoko A539s helped either. Was thinking of getting Exaltos, I am now.

Its that time of year when the roads feel like skid pans, so go carefully.

Find a big empty car park or similar when its raining and try and slide the car. Youll learn when the car will tend to break away and youll start to enjoy it! ;) Of course road condition will vary but it gives you an idea of the ability of you car. Make sure your tyre pressures are always correct as I find this can have a dramatic effect!

Would like to know how to control the car properly, in a controlled way. Have a general idea, but would be nice to do it proper.

Excluding car parks, can anyone recommend somewhere in the north/midlands.

Ive had the back come round a couple of times when the cars been under power through a slippery corner. It surprised me because with a front drive car under power this shouldnt happen. My guess is that the traction control cut in. You expect lifting off to bring the back out, and traction control in effect lifts off for you. The ESP does its job afterwards.

My choice would be ESP without the traction control, which isnt possible of course.

ducking idiots in that video! Ive seen lots of indian or wherever that is cruise video with spectators being hit!

Have to say driving on Ice last christmas in big empty car parks, rather immature, fun but also felt I learnt lots in car control!

Thats mental! Im sure i know where theyre doing it too, looks very familiar! It looks very much like the road between Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the UAE. You have to say their car control is scarily impressive, but F**king stupid, i mean where theyre actually doing it! Glad all is well Matty, mate gets some goodyears :D

I had my first spin trying to do a slide!

I lobbed my 306 round an island on a damp road and it just understeered like mad, so I backed off the power and had a very quick lesson in lift-off oversteer!!

Oh and re the above video:

[Mick Dundee] "You call that a slide?...http://masuyan.web.infoseek.co.jp/video/queen.wmvTHIS is a slide!" [/Mick Dundee]

I slid 75 and hit a curb square on, taking my sump off....i was running tyres with very little grip, and the bias valve had been tampered with :-|

Not as bad as me the other day went inot an island and half way round the front end just went, no grip fior sh*t...managed to collect it about 1 ft from the curb
