best off buying a new pc they are so cheap now, its like buying cars, dont waste money upgrading a cheap one, buy a better one to start off

I dont know much about computers, but i know i like this one, and would prefer to upgrade it rather than buy a new computer, coz its my 'baby'... my first homebuilt computer :D

What you use it for? Guessing just Interernet as you didn't post a grpahics card, i'd put another 512mb of ram in, processor doesn't do much unless you do graphical things.

ram is so cheap i'd be tempted to get 2 1gb sticks and leave it at that. then do another rebuild in like 6-9 mths time.

I had a very similar spec to yourself and i thought mine was good. but i then did my own build (cliosport search word: thesloth (no spaces)) with a basic spend of under £400 - got me a nice dual core with 2gb etc and i went ot town on the graphics card with a 8800 when it first came out. Never looked back.

but yes, get a bit of ram and stick at that. No point doing anything else imo.

Ebay, not sure a comp of that age would work with 2gb?

ebuyer is a great place. Ram is your best bet, as the processor is an older technology you wont find a good upgrade for it unless you change the motherboard.

For a price like that Haz you can't really go wrong. Will Save you time searching for compatible RAM and you could always put in your old HD so its pretty much hassle free.

i would definitely upgrade that, that is slloooooow. If you can't though get some ram from crucial, they're cheap and good.

Good deal mate, I paid £385 for:

Athlon XP5200+ (2 Core 2.6ghz)
2 x 500GB Sata HDD
4 x Pioneer 115D's
2GB RAM.

To the OP, get more RAM, Id probabnly get 2 x 1GB to be fair, if ebaying, could reduce costs with multiple item postage.
