Don't go mad with it in this weather or it will end in tears!

Lack of experience, plus lack of driving aids (no ABS) and bad weather = big mess.

Plus, the learning curve is going to be a lot different between a 1.1 saxo to something with more than double the power for a bit more weight. Save the 'playing' for when the better weather is here...When I got my Old Cup, I was told to go careful in the wet. Went to pick her up and it was absolutely pissing it down...went very carefully home!

Yeah, its the wrong time of year to be messing around in a 172 cup. I just nearly slid into the house when i pulled up on my drive. Time to load the boot with bags of sand to try and improve things.

ahhh, no dont get me wrong im not going mental. Just trying to get used to a vastly different car. Words cannot describe the difference between it and my old car. Yeh ive heard winter is culling time for the cups :(

The only thing loading your boot with bags of sand is going to improve is the grouting on your patio.

Just take it easy, adjusting your driving is all that's needed with any car during the icy months.

Remember this is cup killing weather, just be very carefull and not get to cocky as it will bite! but also enjoy of course :approve:

Let's all take a reality check here... ABS is utter tripe on ice, and in some ways more dangerous!

Drive steady and use the gears to slow you down, it's not rocket science.

Awesomely good advice for the new Upstart!

  CLIO 172 CUP....
yeah going from the 1.1 saxo two the new cup must be like having a rocking stuck up ur ass. with a big small..:approve:..

but like most members have mentions remember winter is the deaf of the 172 cups so if your needing to take the cup out in this snow and stuff be really carfull cause if not you will be in for a shock.......hope you enjoy it like all us cup owners do........

soon as i looked out the window this morning and saw the snow out side i was like..F**K.. am i taking it out. so i used my birds 206 gti and even then i still took it slow......:dapprove:

nice one mate, enjoy it but be careful on icy roads :)

where abouts in Southport are you from? i have good friends there!

Enjoy it mate!

I remember going from my 106 xsi to a 1.4 astra and then a Remapped Ibiza Cupra with 200bhp... scared the s**t out of me and my brother overtook me in a Saxo VTR... I was too scared to use the power!

Just get used to it slowly... I killed a Cup a lil while ago in the wet (I just like to add it wasn't my fault "technically" but what evs) and it's devastating.

I'm not even attempting to drive my 172 in this weather... Toyo's are scary enough in the wet... let alone snow! And tbh, it'll be like driving a snow plough so no point!

Have fun with it and take it easy, they're awesome cars with what I think is the perfect power for the chassis and they handle well but you need to know how to drive it... it can go wrong quite easily.

Terrifying in what way?
It sounds like it's going to blow up or this car is so fast its pulling over 9000 G's?

  Fiesta ST3
Im from churchtown in southport. Its scary in that the power difference in the two cars ;). and that 1st gear pulls so strongly:D. But we all have to take care in this weather.

ahhh i see, i have friends who live in Brocklebank Rd if you know where that is?

Yeah i remember the day i picked my first RS clio up from the delearship.... i traded in my 1.4 against it, paid the difference and drove out of the garage smiling all the way home! the power delivery was what shocked me the most lol.... only thing is i have now got used to it and am starting to look for MORE power lol

  Fiesta ST3
HAHAHA yeh its awesome! yeh i know brocklebank road - nice houses round those parts ;). My friend has a fiesta st and much banter has been had leading upto me getting my car about which is quickest. As im sure you wont be shocked to hear, the cup mullers the ST :approve: Where about are you from?

  PH1 V6
Ahhhhh its something iv always wondered about, i do like the ST's but never known how "quick" they are! The cup is an awesome bit of kit. I could strongly advise getting some uprated engine/gearbox mounts aswell as a powerflex dogbone mount! it makes throttle response SO MUCH more precise and reduced engine movement drematically which in turn means you wont get any knocking etc. well worth the money, i love mine! makes the car feel more precise. next move is to get her on coilovers :)

you got any plans for yours? im from the south coast, sussex.

Always drive carefully! but for now park it up on the drive, clean it, angle the wheels and get some pictures up of it!
