My new car (again)

So with having some problems with the Focus and not being happy with it, it will be going back to the c**ting garage I bought it from, hopefully sooner rather than later.
When I bought the Focus I cleared the garage out for it, and ever since it was playing on my ind a little that I could have a toy and go back to a little van for knocking around with at work, plus get some cash back in the bank as I spent far too much to be honest. So today I picked up this little baby. First impressions are it's much more suited to me, the torque in the focus was unreal but this drives much better, and is a much nicer place to sit!

It's a facelift Boxster S with black leather interior.
Full Porsche and specialist history, only visited 2 garages it's whole life, 1 with each owner.

Drives so well, sounds awesome and roof down is the future! Will be using it as of tomorrow daily until I hit 25 in December, as van insurance drops £200 then.

Shame about the Frs mate. Love the Boxster, lovely drive. Much prefer the 987 of course but that's obvious.

Nice mate! Best wheels for them!

This is my mates that I cleaned for him yesterday; http://www.ab-autos.com/cars/porsche/boxster/3.2s2606speedmanual/6030/0

I love them. Proper nice cars.

Thanks dude.
Will be sending you a present when it's all sorted too to say thanks for the help :)

Thanks mate. It was a choice between a spot on 986, or a ropey early 987 money wise so decided on this route.
It is a little dated inside but still perfectly acceptable in my opinion!

The 3.2 S is 280hp I believe.

EDIT: Looks nice, interior looks really clean, in full black the interior doesn't look as dated; how much was it if you don't mind?

Is it quicker than the m3?! How does it compare?

Nope...

Saying that the OP seemed to have a few problems with the M3.

Looks to to me he has too much money and not enough logic, not meaning that too harshly but problems with the M3, problems with the FRS. Month down the line this will be sold for a MG the way things are going.

M3 > Boxster.

That's a bit out of order I think. Some people just like having nice cars but aren't 'into' them enough to know every little detail. The focus wheel issue Joe had wouldn't have been spotted by anyone unless they removed the wheels to inspect them prior to purchasing the car.

iirc, your clio had a water leak of the most basic variety yet you asked for help on here, maybe people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones?

It's not quicker by any means, just a different experience.

M3 > Boxster.

I had a 113k mile, 11 year old M3, they are allowed to have a few problems last time I checked?
The FRS wheels no-one would have spotted.
And I should have this longer than a month.

My most sincere apologies for not keeping a car for as long as you would have liked and having my circumstances and needs altered.

I agree...

However I never bought a clio for the refinement , speed or comfort. It was bought for one reason and that was to be 'the track' / play project. Hence why it's with BTM more than it's with me. It'll be used 3-6 times a year if that.

Now on the other hand before I bought the previous Boxsters and current M3 I spent many long nights reading up about what/where/when and how regarding them. If a problem does creep up it gets fixed simply not just sold on.

So back on to topic, no I don't think my comment was too harsh if you read the OP's threads there were a few members offering advise and suggestions regarding the garage/car (FRS). But I guess like most of US the excitement took over. It is a shame regarding the FRS but a problem here or there in my opinion doesn't mean you have to get rid of it.

Lovely. Really like these. Here's my dads, identical spec. Love the Bose sound system, it's a peach. Think he may be getting rid of it though! He's getting on a bit for his midlife crisis now:p

Of course, but in my opinion the M3 is the better car. Had 2 Boxsters and 1 M3 so to an outside person all you've done is 'wasted' time and money on the FRS. Maybe my first post come across wrong in which I apologise but owning said cars I do believe you would have been better simply fixing the problems on the BMW.

Again in my opinion the only thing better on the Porsche is the badge. Again this is only my opinion.

I agree with that, I research everything car related before I spend my money, even if its only 500 quid, because i'm a sad old man with nothing else to do.

But I wouldn't accuse someone of having more money than logic. It's completely assumptive seeing as you don't know him (nor do i!) and more to the point it's rude. He may well have more money than he knows what to do with, but if he does, he's obviously good at his job so fair play to him.

I think getting personal was a bit out of order.

Some people just like having nice cars but aren't 'into' them enough.

Exactly my point, other than you sugar coated it...

Joking aside, sorry if my post comes across as rude or offended the Op but maybe a little research would be ideal for future reference. There is a dedicated UK forum in which I found a very good specialist for the boxster as porsche dealership can be a little pricey even for the hard workers among us.

Very sad.

Shame about the FRS, love them as it sounds like you did. Boxters have never really interested me, but it certainly looks well!

You see if you would have read all of his posts you would have also noticed that he said he has had a change in circumstances. That's why he decided to get rid, obviously combined with the wheel issues.

Awesome choice!

Brilliant cars and so underated! If only people could drive one they could see what they are missing out on!

Welcome to your opinion mate, and the BMW is a better daily car, I had it for 15 months. But now I want a 2 seater convertible and a van for work, so that's the new plan.
Yes I have wasted time and hopefully not any money by getting the FRS, but at the time I wanted 1 vehicle to do everything, however since then I've changed my role at work slightly so need the use of a van, and with having garage space now I can have a toy in there. These reasons alongside the wheel issues, and alongside coming to my senses a little with spending so much on a car being a bit silly.
Yes I could have thrown a few quid at the M3 but I wanted a new car anyway, so seemed the right time to swap.

Not offended by anything at all, just seems you're missing a few bits out to make me look bad? After all it is my money ;)

Like I say, I do apologise how my comment come across.

Clutch are pretty much a weak spot on them, other than that long as it's been looked after it should offer much less hassle free motoring.

I've owned both the 2.5 and the S and the S is a much improved car. A good pad compound also let's the brembo calipers feel how they should have been off the line.

Clutch is very heavy and very agricultural. Any way to improve them? And the brakes are pretty poor unless your hammering them, any way to improve these?

without having to read the focus thread through, what happened to the frs's wheel? you've had some nice motors btw!

Similar to the M3, performance friction pads or similar would get the best out the S brembo calipers. Apart from that there a pretty solid all round car.

Insurance transferred over this evening when I got home from work so first drive with owning it properly, and what a machine! Everything feels just right, the noise is unreal! In my opinion sounds so much better than the M3 and the RS, even with the roof up!

Much quicker than it seems when you look at the speedo readout, although 25mph increments on the dial is a little confusing!

Overall I'm properly happy with it, can't wait to have a dry sunny day to have some roof down action!

I'm unsure on wether to get myself another machine polisher and some kit and get it sorted myself for the enjoyment and sense of achievement, or just wait until the spring and pay someone to do it….!

This is the first car that's put a smile on my face like my old 182 did 5/6 years ago!

Lovely car. My neighbour has one, they sound incredible.

What are running costs like?

Should be a fair chunk cheaper than the M3 was, probably a bit more than the FRS due to age I guess.
Might take you up on that in the spring dude, appreciate it :)
