My New Car...

Hi,

I am new to these forums and to Renault Clios, but just like the look of them so decided to go for it! Actually its my first car which I saved up for...

Its a Nov 2001 1.2 16v Clio Dynamique with 50,283 miles on the clock. I paid £2000 for it.

So far I have only put a set of Wolfrace 17" alloys on it and I have bought a few things on ebay to add. I have got new Renault interior door handles with the alloy metal handle instead of black, Renault gear knob with silver bit instead of black, locking silver valve caps, new mats with Clio logo and Door sills. I just want to keep it suttle and not go overboard! I will probably paint the calipers red.

Any ideas on what else I could do to it? Heres a pic below,

The original alloys were on the car when I first looked at it, but 2 were damaged from someone hitting the curb or something and the guy had the wolfrace wheels just sitting and asked me did I want them instead! I might change them, but after the expense of buying the car not for a couple of months!

Haha!! fancy you saying that! I already have a set to put on! Just havent had the time or brilliant weather to spend outside paying her as much attention as I would like to! Its meant to be summer, but not here in Ireland! grrr

lol... They were already on the car! Im glad they were cause they arent cheap! £47 is cheapest Ive seen them! maybe I was just looking in the wrong places before!

Yea, I do think they work and also keep the rain out, but at the same time they are for show.

Your absolutely right its a good price! I was very lucky as it was a friend of my dads selling it through the trade. My dad had done a few favours for him hense the good price! Has anyone any idea what a 2001 clio dynamique with roughly 50K miles is worth?

I dont know how accurate this is as it asked for its year & plate.. but number plates are different in N Ireland but suppose its a rough estimation!

nice buy, decent spec and the car is a good base to start with

I'd do away with the wheels for 16s, slam it 60mm, get some clear side repeaters etc..

Im pleased with it, as never thought I would have a first car like it.. expected to only get a bean tin for £2000 until my dads mate got in touch!

mmm, Im getting the general impression that nobody likes the wheels! oh dear! lol... honestly would not have been my first choice, but the way I saw it they looked better than the standard alloys on it as they were in bad shape from somebody that seemed to like hitting curbs!...I think they'll do for the meantime then i'll prob see what I can get for them and put that towards new ones!

I bought clear side repeaters earlier! so if weather is good at weekend im gona spend a little time on her!

well photos were taken about a month ago and battery was flat so toe eye was required! All sorted now though...

I gather a lot of you dont like the alloys! It making me think I should try selling them for something else. I had a look on topgear.co.uk and they sell the ones I have for £545 with tyres!

What do you think I could try to get for them without tyres in their used state?

hey, welcome to CS 1st rule.....YOUR CAR, YOUR MODS....don't let people on here sway your own choice. thats what moddifyings all about..many people wont appreciate wolfrace alloys like these....lowering the car will make them look even better though. even if it's just on a set of springs. and provided you dont go under 60mm then the insurance company wont kill you for it.

Got them ordered and considering the colour coding on the black bits! Had a look at the silvervisions but whats the correct type for a Clio? I got a little confused!! lol.. can anyone so I dont buy the wrong ones? cheers

You are exactly right!! Dont worry I like to listen to peoples opinions as it can give me some ideas. However at the end of the day its my car so up to me what I do!

I agree that lowering the car could make the wheels look better, but I havent planned to do any major mods like this as its just a waste of money which is my opinion. To date I have just spend money on little cosmetic things like mats, gear knob and inside silver handles from a breaker..

Really the picture doesnt do the wheels justice! will get some better ones up soon cause I think the wheels look far better in real life.

Nope! not a Cat-D... Wouldnt buy something like that..If you read through the thread you will see! but quick summary is that the dealer selling it is a friend of my dads so lets just say hardly any or no profit was made. Plus my dad has done a few favours for him. Worked out well for me!
