My next car, v6 clio??

B

Brown.

at the end of the day its just a fat clio with a v6 enigne in the rear? not even fast? you really think i would get excited about sitting in a £10k clio lol seriously do you feel like a big man or well good about yourself for owning a v6 clio lol woah! :)

if you were an enthusiast then yes and if they were actually 10 k double yes!!!, and yes i feel bloomin great and very big indeed (just ask my lass!!) your quiet right. i wish you could one day feel as good as i do about my car. :D

i would much rather tell someone i have a clio v6 than an 'escort' anyday. Just look at those pics!!

But that's just like saying you'd rather say you have a Cossie than a Clio.

Talking to someone who knows nothing about cars, you'll get ribbed more for having a Clio than an Escort. And for those that know about cars, the Escort Cosworth is a cult classic.

  clio...
Personally, I do love the Cossies for what they are... But in the back of my mind i always have that small voice that reminds me they are nothing more than a glorified council estate wagon. There is 2 around here & they are hellish motors... But nah.

Look at the V6, future classic.

I've never understood the excitement over 20-year-old cars..

I'd have a Vee over en Escort (no matter what it was!) any day of the week.

How is this

Better than this?

I know you'll just say I'm not a true car enthusiast, but to me the Vee looks stunning, whereas the Cossie looks like an old boy-racers car with a stupid spoiler (and yes I know it's standard) - and most people would say the same. Only people that really know about Cossies would care.

Totally agree with that, exactly what I was thinking. Maybe I was too young when the cossie came out for me to appreciate it, I dont know, but I'd have a V6 over that anyday.

  Golf R soon...
The only thing these cars share in common is the fact they have 2 doors.

Personally, it would be V6 for me.

There is only a certain speed you can get on our roads before it impossible to go faster!

I'm not interested in having the fastest car around. I want a car that know one else drives, I've only ever seen 3-4 V6s on the road at most.

Funny acutually I was looking last night on Pistonheads Classifieds and V6's thinking it would be a great car to have, definately a future classic I would have thought.

Just seen the pictures of the Escort Cosworths, which were once my favourite car in the mid 90's. Blimey how it has aged.

I always wanted an escort cosworth when I was at school, they were one of my 'school boy mush have cars' I could have bought a decent one instead of the vee, but tbh I just couldn't justify shelling out that much money on a car which at best will be 11 years old (the last ones are 1996)

I think that nowadays with an escort cos you'd always be worrying if it was going to be reliable, or start rusting away (as they do) plus so so many have been thrashed to death it's un true.

I'm not saying i'd never have an escort cos - I would do, as I am a massive fan, I just wouldn't have one now. I'd have one in the future say 10 years time or so (if there were any good examples left) and I could wrap it in cotton wool (you know the sort of cars I mean) i'd have one then.

Once i'd seen the press pics etc of the vee I knew I wanted one:approve: Tbh I don't care that it's not as fast as it should be (well, as some say) If I want to make it faster I can, it just costs a bit that's all.

At the end of the day, go for a drive of both & then go from there:)

A18XHO - when you have people standing in awe looking at the vee & asking if they car take pics of it, you know you've got something special.

Other drivers in more expensive/exotic machinery give it the nod of approval too. I got the thumbs up from a dude in a Lotus 340r a while back - he said to me " i'ver got a lot of admiraition for clio v6's"

Have you ever been in one ?? If not I might take you out for a spin on sat & you can watch peoples faces ;)

Sorry but for a weekend car i would too say the cossie, very tough desision though, always loved these cars, nearly bought one the other year but bought a focus RS instead, should have got the escort, the pictures you are showing of the escort aren't very good ones, someone must have some better one's.I still think i would have a mint RS500 above both of them, there is one on pistonheads for sale, mint ,very low milege for about 25 grand. If only my house was finished.

V6 over the Cossie anyday!

I couldn't justify spending 15k+ on a Escort,
but then again i couldn't justify spending 15k+ on a Clio

....mainly because i dont have the money :(

Sounds like you prefer the cossie, the lux ones are very nice inside, Ford parts and service is cheaper than Renault.
I've only ever seen one and that was at a show..

For me it would be the vee but the cossie does have 4 seats and that would be better if you want to go out with the family in it.

I always used to want a wanted a EsCos, grew up in that era drooling over them, and was very close to buying one before I purchased the 182, only the lack of a big enough garage put me off. Now the appeal has gone away though. Now the appeal is just not there, but on the other hand the Clio V6 does nothing for me.

I am with Wiggum if it was a classic weekend toy, Yellow Intergrale EVO 2 for sure, or a Moonstone RS500 but more likely an Exige for me.

I generally prefer the Cossie but my decision would lead me elsewhere. Despite the fact I think they look great you still cannot get over the age and price of them. It would be a die hard enthusiast which bought one now and I just dont think they offer what most people would be looking for. If I had mid-teens to spend I would be looking at an Evo8 MR.

The other point to consider is you are uncertain as to when you will finish with 172 and by then you may want or need something completley different so I wouldnt be giving this decision too much thought currently.

When i've finished abusing my 172 track car, i want a car that i can cherish, polish, and generally pamper. Is a v6 worth that? My only options really are either a mk2 clio v6 255 or a Escort cosworth. I'v never wanted any other car more than either of those, but is a clio v6 really worhty of that 'status' yet?? I mean for instance, when i see a cossy going down the road (which is very very rare!) i actually stop what i'm doing and my jaw drops and i dribble.
When i see a v6, yeah i stare, but i don't think its in the same 'league' as a cossy.

I know there are better and faster cars out there than the pair of these, but for me, they're my ultimate weekend car. In the world. Ever.

Opinions anyone??

Strange...I several Escort Cosworths where I live. Yeah, very good cars. As to why they are the ultimate for you I find rather bizarre. An RS 200, now that IS something worthy of dribbling and jaw dropping.

If you wish to cover ground quickly the Escort will do it faster than the Clio. Though these Escort owners seem to believe they have something priceless in terms of second hand value. Special Ford's, but only a Ford. The V6 Clio to me doesn't have that stigma to it. Ford owners don't seem to realise this.

Cossie, yes its getting on, yes its a Ford but they are one hell of a car and till turns heads, heres my mates its stunning and its done under 30000 miles.

I'd love to get a V6 and put it on ITBs even if the cost outweighed the fact it still wasn't that quick.

Now that would get my juices going!

out of the 2 i would go for the cossie but my personal fav would be the lancia :D

i followed a clio v6 the other day and to be honest it just looked shite imo :(

I used to have a Delta HF Turbo. My friend had the Delta Intergrale EVO. I still stand by this and anyone who's ridden in one/owned one will too. The grip levels are COMPLETLEY insane!!! I doubt the Escort could keep up on the real tight corners.

The Integrale can eat a set of tires in less than 200 miles. The sidewalls wilt due to the ridiculous pressures of load upon the tyre due to such fantastic levels grip. So easy to drive and exploit so much from them without being a real pilot.Very forgiving also. Not so forgiving reliabilty though. My Delta was bad enough. The Intergrale WAS costly!!:(

I love the escorts but my how they've aged, and if you still drive around some pikeyville place you'll see a 1.8 with the wail tail on it wanting to be one. That swhat you'll look like to the normal person. Very few people i know would know what it was if i pulled up in it, and would think i;'ve just bought a very expensive bodykitted shitbox no matter how fast.

Vee all the way.

Well The lancia over them both but as your asking between the two. Vee. ;)
