My oil dials on my valver...

Im not sure if they are working or not , right here goes:

The one that tells you how full up the oil is starts off high when i start the engine then drops to the middle when i have been driving. (And i tops it up this morning)

The gadge that tells you the heat of the oil works fine as it starts of just above low and then as the car gets warm the temp gadge goes up.

The 3rd one with the bars on it seems to always be on 1. I remember it once being on 6 i think but at the moment always on 1.

Anyone?

Thats fine mate, the oil level only comes on at initial start up for around 15 seconds and the oil pressure will be low when your driving normally, see if the pressure rises when you first turn it on then settles

Oil gauge comes on for 10 seconds on start up, then turnes off.

The Oil temp will be low till youve got the engine warm. Think mine is normaly balanced on the middle of the range.

The Oil bar will be high on start up, (as the oil is thick and needs more pressure to pump it around the engine) and gradually drop as the engine warms. Once warn mine is idling around 1 and on driving around 3.

Always got my doubts about the gauges but yours sound a bit ropey!

The oil level should only be working with the ignition on but engine off (as said) - if yours is displaying with hte engine running it sounds like something is wrong (prob a sensor somewhere but i dont know which).

The oil pressure shouldnt really be reading that low and should fluctuate between accelerating and idle. Mine sits slightly above 3 bar when driving but drops to about 1 bar when idling. If yours is always on 1 then id say the sender unit may be knacked.

Temp gauage sounds fine though.....

Hope this helps

valver oil pressure is different to the Williams from what I have noticed, both of my m8s valvers go upto about 100-120 degrees once warm and when idling the pressure is between zero and 1. On my williams it only goes upto 80-90 on the temp and once fully warm it is about 1 for the oil pressure. Oil levels are only measured on start, it cant measure the oil as its running.

It also depends on what kind of oil you are using, I use a pretty thin oil in mine due to the relatively low miles on it.

the oil level is on when you turn the ignition on or start the engine for the forst 30 seconds only then it goes off!

oil temp should rise slowly as you drive longer as its obviously getting warmer.

oil pressure should be pretty high untill the engine has fully warmed, then once warm be around 1 on idel, 3 whilst normal driving and 5-6 whilst thrashing it.
