my old new car.

  Trophy #473
Picked this up on friday night from joshydee, well happy with it, Its a complete dog but its strait and has a few more months MOT left in it but no tax, going to be a track car with a difference, edde mite remember a conversation a while ago and will probably remember what myself and Danny-ACE! have planned.

been looking for a valver for ages, and this one seemed to suit the bill, 119k, but aparently has a 70k engine, but i dont think it has, lots of dints and a shagged bonnet, bit of rust on the sills and rear arches, but nothing i can sort out, partly striped interior and a harness. loads of service history too. has an oil leak but upon closer inspection it just needs a new sump nut washer. exhaust was leaking too but thats now been sorted. only got 1 missing centre cap. brakes are ok, and hand brake is brilliant. going to strip it to the shell and completly rebuild it. Engine wiring loom is a mess, someone has mashed it up in the past. its also got Ghetto door locks lol.

yeah its not bad, little flat but going to give it a full service and check up, clutch is ummm strange, may need a new cable or adjusting. tis fun, took it for a quick blast on friday night down some back roads.

scraped the orange one, it was shagged, will be missed. although dad isnt impressed, got rid of one clio to gain another.

nice on dude... like i say its not the original engine... the bodykitted mess that engine came out of had 77k on the clock... then again i feel that might have had an engine swap at some point? doesn't go bad though... i can't believe it was the sump washer ive been that lazy... had 1 quick look and it looked like it was running down the back of the engine and lost patience.. ah well hope you can breathe some life back into the old dog...

oh its had a diff loom put in.... when i bought it the kid had got 2 looms in both partly connected.... had to choose 1 and i think i chose the butchered one.. couldn't work out where that wire near the manifold went either?

  Looking for a ph-quick...
Phase 1 is where its at!! Should be good, keep us updated! I think you will find that that wire goes to th eoil pressure sender, to the left of the zorst manifold as you look at it from above!

rocker cover, throttle body, throttle cable bracket and lift eye are to follow and also the subframe if it fits in the tank.

also took the rocker off and to my amazement the head was in better condition than i thought, and not much wear. BE to be swaped for a 2ltr item in the near future and all metal parts to be polished. Hydraulic PAS will be removed to make more space near the inet ;) and I have an electric rack to go on (thanks C.Slicker)

more progress.

head and exhaust manifold off and stripping the block, but i took the cam belt off to soon and now cant remove the oil pump pully. nice and black pistons and head....ummmm. bores are in good condition as is the cam lobes and tappets. Took the head off in the wrong sequence too, by going inside out, instead of ouside in if you know what i mean. will have to check the head when i can find my feeler guages and a strait edge. cracked the sump by accident too. Need to slow down as i just get to enthusiastic and break/do stuff wrong, but all good fun:

The reason why I can get the valver in my garage yet, need to finish this thing first, its a 106 with corsa combat arches made to fit. converted it to 4 stud too as it was only 3. been doing this on and off for a year now but since i had the space my mate let me keep so i can finish it off.

I was just thinking the same! I wouldn't dare take an engine to bits like that. I would never know how to put it all back together!
