My V6 might blow up!

  E91 M Sport

...but then again it might not :p

My warranty will run out in March, and I dont like the idea of owning a French concept car with no backup, so Ive been looking it warranty options. Warranty Direct is the obvious choice, which costs about £35 a month for cover.

Is anyone else planning to get covered by someone other than Renault?

Hi Mike...............I went for the Warranty Wise "TOTAL" cover...........I think it cost about £250 for the year but I then get the option to extend it for a further 4years without any drop in cover................which is exactly what I intend to do eh

It includes MoT failure and wear & tear etc etc ;)

The cost for the 4year extension will be around the £750 mark

With Warranty Direct they wouldnt offer the same cover.........I had to drop down to the next lower cover rating after the initiale 1year which I wasnt to keen on :(

Cya Stu

PS the Reno one I think is called HARMONY and costs £550 for 1year & £999 for 2years

  Forester Sti, SC Clio V6,

Its a laguna/R25/safrane/expace/a610 engine wrapped up in a Clio - I wouldnt get stiffed on the rates!

The bodywork isnt prone to breaking down and the electrics are standard fare.

Yeah Mike and the servicing is "much cheapness" given what it is...............but piece of mind and if I want to change at a later date for a Mk2 then itll help sell the car aswell eh

Cya Stu

PS and theres way too many Mikes on this forum :D

The only problem with non dealer warranty is that when you take your car into their preferred garage for repair it will more than likely be the first time they have seen a V6.

Renault know very little about the car, so Id expect any other garage to know next to nothing.

I had a Harmony Warranty on mine and thought it was worth paying the extra cash for a little piece of mind. Also better for selling to have a Renault Warranty along with the car.

Craig, the Warranty Direct policy offers the option (for about £3 more a month) to have it repaired at a Franchised Dealer of your choice, which is one of the reasons that I am keen to use them.

Stu, does your company offer this option?

Cheers,
Mike

Thats good to know, but isnt the gearbox a bit shabby? And anything that might go wrong, however small, seems to take a lot of labour cost to fix.

Absolutely Mike like you I wouldnt have it any other way..................they have various degrees of cover which you can have at extra cost like wear & tear, MoT failure, Franchised dealer hourly rates etc etc..............the costs mentioned above INCLUDE everything................with only one exeption and that is the cats.............an oversight on my part which will be put rite come my renewal ;)

Also I opted for 1 year to begin with cause if I went straight in for 4years then I wouldnt be able to renoew it after that with the same "TOTAL" cover......this way I get 5years FULL cover without compromising it eh

Cheers Stu, Ill check that out.

You planning to keep your V6 for 5 years?? Lots of respect to you if you do. You must be insane ;)

  Forester Sti, SC Clio V6,

Gearbox is from a diesel I believe!!

Of all parts its worth the cover as its probably the weakest link.

  Forester Sti, SC Clio V6,

and a tip - dump the bosch 4 tip plugs - theyre sh*te.

Theyre made for service life and spread a good spark in any number of directions. The only good news is if one tip doent work the others do!!

Nice in a performance car!!

NGK do an equivalent

Ive no plans to sell it Mike but if I did before the warranty expires then its always a selling point eh..............cause it is transferable at a cost of £30 ;)

By the way the statement in the brochure goes like this: -

"There is no list of parts as virtually all components of the vehicle are covered"

Ill send you a PM

Cya Stu

No probs Mike................youre in exactly the same situation I was in.............I sent away for all the brochures and checked out the web sites to read up on them before the time came so that I was ready and new exactly what it was going to cost etc.
