My Valver's not starting!!!

My valver is having problems starting. It turns over but it's not firing. Checked the leads and in one of the holes there is alot of oil, it's almost drowning the spark plug. Could this be part of the problem?

It's been standing for a couple of months now but I haven't had the time to start it in the months that it has been standing.

The battery is only a few months old and seems to charge up ok while it's connected to jump leads so i can't see this posing any sort of a problem....

Please help me!!!

Rocker cover gasket is the cause of the oil on the HT leads. Change this along with HT leads, plugs, rotor arm and distributor cap, just for good messure! All should be ok after that

mines a bit like this at the moment, but ive got all new ignition bits and rocker gasket, no oil or anythin near the plugs

sometimes starts first turn, sometimes just turns over and over

To start you need a spark, fuel, and air.

Seeing as its turning over the starter motor is fine, i suggest you trace the ignition system back, spark plugs (well oily, forst port of call lol), HT leads, dizzy, rotar arm, king HT lead, coil pack.

If thats all ok turn attention to fuel disconnect feed fuel pipe from fuel raila nd see if there is a decent amoutn of fuel being pumped out (exact amounts in haynes), then if thats the case turn you attention to the fuel rail and injectors.

Can;t hurt if all else fails to take the air filter off and try starting it then.

Although sounds as tho most likley is no spark, i woudl suggest dryign up the spark plugs, changing rocker cover gasket and going from there

check coil packs if your have them.....also if your not getting a spark, check the immobaliser isnt playing up/stayin on....

mines not the immobiliser as sometimes it does eventually start after being turned over for a bit

suppose it could be the coil but from what ive heard this is a bit unlikely

ive changed the earth cable for a new one but i suppose where its earthed to could do with being a bit better

mine only has problems starting when its really cold, hot starts are no problem, so im thinking cold start injector, either its not working or its putting too much fuel in ?.....its impossible to get to though

think i best clean the earth from the battery to chassis, it could be better

or if its turning but not firing and you have changed the plugs ect if the rev needle doesnt jump at all when you are turning it over it will be the crank angle sensor that has packed up, these just die without warning
