My Wheels have come!

  Mk2 Ph1, 1.6 16v Clio

My new 17" Dezent H have come! They look better in the flesh than on photos. Now im itching to get em on but not sure when ill have chance as my Girlfriend is coming over tonight after i finish work but i may get an hour or so to fit them while im waiting for her to come.

Ill take pics so u can all see them! hehe

You have to bear in mind that I have to wait to get it lowered for a week or two so for now it may ride a little high.....

Pics later...

The Tyres they come with are:

205/40/17 Sonar Sport-NS1

They are obviously a budget brand but has anyone had them and how crap are they?

Cheers

Copper slip so that the bolts dont seize up and a torque socket so you dont shear the wheel studs off when you are tightening them. Trust me, Ive learnt the hard way.

I may end up taking them to a garage to fit tomorrow morning because i need it tracking anyway....

Hmm - I didnt get any Spigot rings with them I dont think (only opened one of the wheels so far) - how would I know if I need them ? (apart from when ive got them on and I get terrible vibrations!!)

Also, The tyres are Nankang Sonar NS1s - any feedback on these?

*UPDATE*

Bah! So I got home and straight away got my car up on a jack and removed old wheel....HMMMMMM. problem. I saw this:

It had an MOT a couple of weeks ago and he said some grease was sprayed around because the front near side (thats passenger side right?) CV Boot had come unsecured. He said it didnt need replacing though. Anyway, after looking at the amount of greeny/brown greasy stuff everywhere I think its safe to say its not worked - and seeing as they charged £30h/r x2 to do it (along with brake pads and discs) I think I need to go back to them!!

This is the area where the CV-Boot is and again, theres gunk everywhere.

Needless to say, I got my new alloy and tried to fix it on just to test the fitment etc. Ok so first off, they dont fit flush (theres movement) but Rochford didnt send me any spigot rings. SO i got my spigot ring thats on my old alloy and tried to see if it fits the alloy - it doesnt. Ok, So then I tried putting the wheel on anyway and where you thread the bolt in, the space around it is so small i couldnt get my socket over the bolt to secure it in!!! So basically im FOOKED!

Im gonna try and take it somewhere tomorrow but the CV boot thing is really fooking it up as I work all week and not gonna get chance to book it into a garage!! GAAAAAHHH. As for the new alloys, well I got a feeling if i take it somewhere to fit them, theyre gonna say that I need Spigot rings but they wont have any to fit so Ill have to walk away and try and find some - which will be impossible round Northwich area... GRRRR

I was so looking forward to putting them on myself tonight but seeing as I cant even get my socket round the bolt, and I have no spigot rings, I think my saturday morning is gonna be a frantic run around to get them on only to be disappointed at the end of it....

Anyway,Heres a pic of my car as it is at the moment (with OLD wheels)

Words of advice, encouragement? lol

yeah they were top on my list - but I gonna TRY and go to the garage about my CV boot first , cos otherwise even if i do get the wheels on - the leaky cv boot will spray wads of grease all over them!! plus my CV joint will screw up if i leave it leaking.

Oh and Im gonna have to get them put on by some kind of place anyway cos of the problem i mentioned above about the damn holes not being wide enough to fit my soddin socket into....how mad is that!! lookin at the holes with the bolt in, i cant see how *any* tool could fit around the bolt.... damn german maded wheels!! lol

the nice people at Demon Tweeks will also sell you some wheel bolts with smaller heads so you can get your socket on!

Good luck with it anyway, itll look really good when you get it sorted :D

lol - nice one. Im gonna have to make the trip tomorrow methinks. AFTER ive sorted out my CV Boot...I hope to god I can find a garage who has a free slot to do it in the few hours of saturday morning that car garages stay open!!! How big a job is it in terms of time to change a CV-Boot? I imagine not a long one?

  Mk2 Ph1, 1.6 16v Clio

Cheers Mike. Cars are such a pain in the ass! In one way im glad i got new alloys cos I wouldnt have noticed the CV Boot being split otherwise - which obviously in the long run would have caused damage to the Cv Joint etc.... But what a time for it to happen!! On the night when I want to put my new alloys on....grrrr

Thx again
