Mysterious brake problem

  RenaultSport clio 172 mk2
Hello all!

I'm having some problems with my brakes. When I use the brakes they kind of stutter. Hard to explain what I mean. Problem is worse when I'm going round a corner at the same time.

However, when I took my boyf out in the car to show him what I meant, there was no problem at all! He doesn't want to order parts because without actually experiencing it for himself, he doesn't know for sure what the problem is (and to be honest I think he's sceptical that there is a problem at all!)

So, any ideas? and does it definitely need sorting? cos my boyfs argument is that if it was a serious problem then it would do it every time, and maybe it's just the way I apply them, or the fact that I drive like a rally demon!

Well, considering the fact that its the most important part of the car in terms of safety, i wouldnt over look it. Shuddering i think can be cause by warped discs but not sure why it would only occasionally happen.

Best to be safe and ask a machanical freind or renault to check the system over...

Plenty more people on here would know more....

Oh, and welcome to CS :)

Hallo!

lol

Agree with the above on warped discs though, or perhaps wheel bearings? (unlikely though if it only happens under braking)

if not drive over a wet man hole cover and slam on ur breaks see if thats the same juddering u mean if so its fine! more of a peddle judder than a wobble of the car!??

You can also get a juddering feeling in the first few moments of driving the car when braking.... think its the abs, esp etc... checking thing over before you set off. Feels horrible lol..

I did wonder if that might be it! Not convinced though because of when it kicks in and when it doesn't. And also it effects the steering really badly, which I didn't think could be normal.

You're probably right, it's just that I had to have my rear brake shoes replaced a couple of months ago, and when they packed in it was really scary, so I just want to be on the safe side. I suppose it's worth a bit (/lot:eek:) of embaressment just to be entirely sure!
