Mystery engine work

Just got my car back from a cambelt change and the mechanic said there was evidence of some top engine work having been carried out.

I asked him what he thought it might be, thinking maybe the head gasket had gone, and he wasn't sure.

Any ideas? It's an 05 1.6 and has done 71,000 miles.

Probably just fishing for more work, waiting to see how you reacted to his "revelation" if you were impressed with his knowledge
