I'd recommend doing it at least once. I would have thought it would be bucket list stuff for virtually all petrol head to be honest. Just take it steady, drive well within your limits, avoid going out at the busiest times and, the chances are, you will be absolutely fine. I don't know anyone who has had a crash or been hit by anyone. One of our gang broke down last year, but it cost him a couple of hundred Euros to be recovered and we just fixed it and carried on. I think the YouTube videos and forum talk make it sound more dangerous than it is. People just need to show it the respect it deserves.

The hire cars do mitigate some of the financial risk, but the excesses are mega and, speaking from experience of driving one, the unfamiliarity of driving a car that's not your own probably makes you more likely to not being paying proper attention to your mirrors, so you could argue that the risk actually goes up.

Like I said, when we go at Easter, the Sunday and Monday are very quiet so, if you time it right, you can do it without loads of risk.
Totally agree... People who haven't been have to bare in mind that the circuit is open to the public for hours on end and YouTubers film all day capturing everything that happens, so when they upload crash videos it makes the place look far more scary than it is. I'm not saying there isn't a risk, but it's not as bad as many people think.

The place is pretty quiet October time, and closes November iirc.....
I did the trackday over there in Oct last year and the weather was sound really - just a little chilly ?
Somehow the circuit days events I've been the last 2 years always bring the decent weather with them.

If you only wanna go over for a few laps, why don't you try and go when there's a VLN race on. Always something to go and watch then, plus they usually run TF after the race and the following day in the VLN layout

I’d happily pay for the circuit days event, where can I find what’s included in the package or Is it literally just the laps? Any breakdown cover etc, be nice to have a pit with other people out on the same sessions in case something does start to play up

The Circuit Days package is a full day Open pit lane Trackday. Briefing was the evening before at the Linder Congress hotel. We stayed in the Linder motorsports Hotel over the road and the parking was free.
8-9am the track opens for sighting laps. No overtaking and 60mph speed limit. 9am track goes green and away you go. All breakdown recovery is included. But if you crash and damage the barriers then it’s priced per metre to repair at your cost. If you Red flag the track you will not be charged as per TF days nor will you get charged for spillage or causing any accident. It’s Everyman for themselves again unlike TF. We started the day just doing 1 lap (10odd mins) then came back in for checks and a break. Then progressed to doing 2 full laps. By the end of the day (4.15pm) all us had done roughly 20-30 laps. If you work that out at a minimum 20 laps at TF €30 per lap then you more than get your monies worth. We also booked ourselves an instructor through @pule333 for the whole day and we just split the cost between the 8 off us. It was an incredible time and can’t wait to go back next year.

Sounds perfect mate is there only 8 people in total then or is that just through circuit days? Thinking this is definitely the best way to go about it! Will you be going this October?

That was just our small group :) think in total there were around 180 cars. Obviously not all at same time. So plenty of space. If and when you decide, drop me a PM I will put you in contact with my instructor guy. He is briliant for first timers.
That’s my best lap :) before gearbox broke a little haha.

If you have PS4 or Pc. Highly recommend driving the circuit a few times. It won’t be the same in real life but at least you will learn it faster once you adjust game to real life.

No that was just 8 mates on a road trip. I don’t actually know how many was on the actual trackday. Maybe a couple hundreds. This was the briefing.

Yeah I imagine there is pro’s and cons to both, no one wants to shell out all that money to get there and it’s hammering it down, however we were looking into going in about 5 weeks time (mid June) for just a couple of TF evening sessions and paying the 50 odd euros to have an instructor in for the first couple of laps. Hard to get the thought of either binning it or the car breaking down out you’re head though really especially as TF costs can soon rack up

I went for the first time last year in October. Was litrally the last weekend of opening. It was a blessing as it was quiet, You get to do your thing, do a tourist lap, get your photo, say you've done the ring and didn't die!

If you've never been on track before then do a track day or an action day or something. Failing that as I said, go at the end of season when its winding down.
