N/S driveshaft change.

I have managed to score a new genuine 182 cup n/s driveshaft from a fb seller to replace my current one which is leaking gearbox oil from the inner gaiter.

I have changed a bunch of driveshafts before but never one this style.
I’m assuming it is:
Drop gearbox oil
Undo hub nut
Split hub ball joint and TRE,
Remove 3 bolts on inner gaiter
Pull the shaft.
And put it all together again.

Do I need any kind of sealant on the inner gaiter to gearbox joint?
What is the torque value for the hub nut?
Any other odd things I need to be aware of?

Yes to all the above.

You don’t need any sealant. Hub nuts are 180NM.

Does the replacement shaft already have the gaiter clamp fitted? If not, just be careful when putting it back on the new shaft as it’s easy to distort the rubber gaiter, which will mean a leak.

If you drop me a message I’ll send the manuals over.

Instead of splitting the ball joint and risk damaging the rubber boot, undo the two bolts holding it to the lower arm.

Hub nut torque is 280Nm.

Thanks all.
The shaft does have the gait or clamp fitted already, good thought on the ball joint bolts.
I will set to and get it done.

just another area of caution is be careful placing the tripod bearings into the cup in the gearbox. I had one fall apart leaving the needle bearings in the gearbox. That was a fun day
