n2o

have just been speaking to a lady from wizard of noz,
she said that instead of going for a 172 engine conversion that i should spend £1200 with them and they will give me 185hp in my 1.216v just via some n2o, she said that it wont damage my engine and standard gearbox and clutch should be ok,
she also said that it will just give me a really quick 0-110mph time but not a high top end,she said it wqould be used with a top notch progressive controler and all that jazz,

what do you lot think,

any good or is she talkin s**t and i should just have a new lump?

please help

I think if you ran a 110bhp shot through your engine you'd need a new lump anyway!! Talking sh*te my friend!

so you think i should just do a conversion, she offered me a £1/hp gaurantee,

  172 Cup SOLD
yup.......they recommend you run only a maximum of half your engines actual power through a shot of nos.......i.e. if you engine is 80bhp.....only use a max of 40bhp shot

MOFO tell them that if they cover your engine and gearbox then you'll do it.

i asked them too but she just said i shouldnt worry as they have never had a engine fail due to there instalation of n20. i want to do it but i still want to have a car at the end,
:S :S :S :S

  172cup/BMW 320 coupe
engine + 185 n2o + kaafukinboom

id save the money and buy a 172 cup, would prob be cheaper than putting 172 engine in ur current car!
then think about putting 75shot on that!

i have to keep my car as its on finance so only way i can get rid of it is if it goes missing
its a 110 shot they were offering,

  Vectra :(
It can be done safely i believe. Sure i remember reading about a couple of 106 rallyes (1.6 8v) running 100bhp shot and it being fine. With a decent controller you should be fine, maybe use a bit less than 100bhp on a 1.2 tho. However thats not really the issue i dont think. Yes its £1200 to have it fitted but thats only half the story...Buy putting a 172 engine in you are going to drive round all day everyday with approx 170bhp on tap. With n20 your going to drive round with 80bhp on tap and then for a few minutes have 180bhp but thats only if you remember to refill the bottle.

After you have it fitted you will like the extra power but you will want it all the time and then it becomes expensive. Personally i would only go for n20 if i were using my car for 1/4 mile sprints etc etc or as a bit of fun, i wouldnt take that route to getting more power.

i totaly agree with you, but a 172 conversion has been quoted @ £1500 for engine (matt black) the £1600 fitted, also only really want the n2o for a bit of fun,

no 110bhp shot of n2o and my car is running 80bhp as it is
A 100hp shot doesn't always give 100hp might be just 50hp.

16V_Jon had a 75 shot in hit 1.2 and blew the piston up after a bit I wouldn't bother a 172 conversion is much better cheaper and you get the power all the time.
The stock clutch and gearbox won't handle the power the clutch will slip like mad and the gearbox won't take the power for long.

Forget it FQ-400 are supercar quick. Your only chnace is for them to break down (the 400's arn't that reliable from what I've heard might be down to owners though).

The conversion well the bits for a 172 conversion are £1.5k+vat from Matt Black off here but you'll end up[ chnaging bitsso the total bill more like £2.5k+ vat for say 190hp

Best idea to keep with an FQ400 is to buy this

HAHAHAHAHA are you on drugs.

Wizards are w**k wouldn't let them near my car if they paid me.

Also to keep up with a fq400 your gonna need stupid amounts of power (300bhp plus). Not gonna happen with a 182 engine never mind a 1.2 lol.

Even flans car won't keep up with an FQ400 I don't think. Maybe a 340 but the 400s are supercar quick.
Its the best starting point.
Matt's car which whilst is a Mk2 shell (ie hevier) with 430hp or so is probably on slicks quicker than an FQ400 but its built for the drag strip.

my bro has just got one, went for a drive in it and it is quick, he raced and renault 5 turbo in 7oaks, 5 turbo was all over him but he was running 298bhp and has no interior (at all), he said he cannormally do anycar that is the evo/skyline size and pushing 500hp, the renaul 5 was amazingly quick,

FQ400s are very difficult to drive to their potential. I had a go in a guy I go rallying withs car and it was fast but I was probably only to 65% of the potential of it. The guy who owns it who also rallys an evo could really make it shift round corners doubt any fwd car would be near it.

Back to the topic though, I wouldn't trust wizards of nos to put that much nitrous through such a small engine. I've had experience with them in the past and the system they made was bodged and I ended up remaking it myself. That said the progressive controllers they sell are pretty good.
