N73 - Need help with something

got my N73 from Orange about an hour ago

across the top of the screen are shortcuts to various options, and a large section is took up by the clock

can i remove either of these, especially the shortcuts

if they cant be removed i think ill be sending it back to them and waiting for the K850

yes...just trying to remember how, i sold mine a while back.

You need to change the standby mode settings! active standby or something like that.

also first thing id do is change firmware to generic and install the latest one.

yeah as above, settings --> Standby --> Active standby --> OFF

Seriously remove the orange branding...

I installed the latest firmware today, v4.0726.0.1 and the phone is running far quicker than before
