N95 Sat Nav is quality.

Car  Fiat Panda 100hp
It gets slated on here etc and I went from my address to my mates whos 70miles away in Bham, and it got my right outside his door. had no troubles what so ever with it.

Had my headset on so the voice came through that so I could still have my music on.

Awesome phone!

I take it you have the V12 or later firmware then ? until V12 the GPS took ages to lock on... if at all.

After V12 it takes < 30 seconds from cold, I even get locks on 5 sattelites indoors ! and I have to agree the Sat Nav on it is now excellent having used it in a 'real world' test.

i use the n95 sat nav, every single day for work and its perfect.

gets me to the right place every single time without problems

yep, since the new firmware it is now awesome, i use it with route66 and the internal gps and it locks onto satallites in no time. can't wait for tomtom support! only downside is the battery life, but tbh if i'm using it for satnav then i'm in the car and i have a carcharger anyway.

I've never really used it in anger, but it seems to work fine.

I'm in firmware V12

How do you get new Firmware? I've done a quick search and it sounds like I have to 'Flash' :S my phone... sounds complicated?

nokia website takes you to nokia updater. I tried that and apperently v11 is the latest

and the sat nav on my v11 works fine with no probs, picks a signal quite easily.

So is the latest V11 or V12. If its V12 where do you get that from? Because the Nokia Updater only gives you V11?

I dont mind the N95 sat nav (when I can pick a satellite signal up!).
I cant wait for TomTom support too (apparantly you need an external GPS receiver with TOMTom at the mo).

Overall the N95 is ok - had mine changed 2 months ago after only 4 months as kept hanging and would not alow firmware to be upgraded!

It has again started to switch off and on at random intervals so its going on Ebay shortly. It has some great features but not practical for everyday use.

:dapprove:

Update to the latest which I believe is now v13. Anything above V12 fixes every problem I ever had with the N95 (other than a short battery life ;) )

Did yours switch off and on by itself and freeze before you upgraded the firmware too?

Just spent the last two hours installing the updater and then updating....

It now says I have v11... D'oh! lol

How do I get v12?

no you dont have to pay.

i dont see why everyone is having so many problems??

just use nokia suite and do it like that

some network providers dont give allow nokia to update the firmware, however if you change your product code to a Generic N95 Euro code you can get the latest firmware as technically its a generic phone and not an orange, o2 or vodaphone etc.. phone.

Works a treat, im using v12 at the moment. Seems to work fine, just need to connect the phone to the Maps program to get the maps on the phone instead of downloading them via the net.

Right let me just clear a few things up.

The latest firmware is Version 12.0.0.013. Not v13 like some people have confused it with.

To update your phone you need to go here http://europe.nokia.com/A4579163 , download the program and run to update.

If it says you have the latest firmware, you need to change your product code. THIS IS EASY.
People think its rocket science but its actually very easy just requires the installation of a few programs to your PC. Go here and follow post #13 http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum/showthread.php?t=58225 for instructions on changing product codes.

v12 has A-GPS which means the GPS is much more accurate and locks on a lot quicker. To be honest I was never too bother waiting 1 minute for it to lock on before, but now I have to wait 10 seconds and its very accurate!

Thanks for the info on updating everything. I now have the V12 firmware. However I just can't get this sat nav sorted. It never finds a GPS position and I thought you could use it for free yet its always connecting to GPRS.

Anyone know of a guide to get it working?
