names of rs clio's

i was just thinking i only ever use the terms
172 for the full fat 172
cup for the 172 cup
182 for every variation of 182 except trophy can never be arsed to sort them out into their 'propper names'
and trophy

who else does the same??

My mate has a full fat 172 and i now have a cup, so i tend to call his the slow one, and mine the fast one, lol.

Seriously though, i call them pretty much the same as you bunny boy.

172
cup
182
trophy

Same as mine :D

O/T - One question regarding the shift light - does it indicate the optimum time to change gears or just let you know you're running out of revs, or what?

its the ouch ouch change gear light ;) its not an optimum shift light

Missed out the mk1s! Early valvers had RS trim so i'd say you could consider them and the williams RS models...

gear change light is THE OPTIMUM. Not "ouch" as it's below the rev limiter. If you see it and change you've lost power and acceleration.

If you wait for the shift light to change up you'll be bouncing off the limiter. You should see it pop up AS you shift, but i wouldnt say its the optimum point to change.

Maybe a better way to explain, Loony??. Either way if the light illuminates it's too late to get maximum acceleration/power. The usual experience is the limiter in earlier gears. However, anyone who feels the best is to max it out has lost out anyway.

i use the shift light mainly when the engine isn't up to temperature to let me know how far i can take it and know when its up to temperature, obviously not straight away but after a period of time that I think the engine is nearly warm.

anyway, back on topic!
