Nasty engine noise 182

  Octy VRS
My 182 is making a nasty noise. Deffo coming from the main part of engine, not the fan belt etc .

On tickover it makes a dry "shuck shuck" noise that matches the engine revs. It increases when you put your foot down. There also seems to be a slight loss of power when nailing it but only for a short while. Like something's loose then tightens up again.

It sounds f**king awful and I'm really worried it's a new engine job.

I'm hoping the manifold or something is loose and just needs a couple of bolts tightening but the engine cover takes up so much room it's hard to locate it.

Anyone experienced anything similar?

Cheers, will take a look. Drove 30 miles to work this morning and it actually feels fine, just makes a bloody awful noise. I thought the power was a bit hesitant last night but perhaps I was convincing myself.

Took it to Renault who basically said not to drive it and leave it there as it sounds like something to do with the cambelt. They can't look at it before the weekend though. Have to get train home and work from our other office tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
