need a laptop for my mum (HELP)

oh need a laptop for my mum, needs to be able to handle some databases nothing massive, internet, email, basic office stuff...

ok needs to be 15" minimum she wants vista blablabla needs to be fast blablabla... oh needs wifi

she wants it to look pretty... she is a woman they think if something looks nice its better, so possibly a coloured casing to it lol...

i have £450 to spend...

help people.

I've been looking at getting this one for when I go back to uni, looks OK to me but I'd appreciate a bit of adivce on it as I'm not too clued up on these things

you get so much for so little these days with pc's / laptops. If I have to replace my acer ever I'll prob just spend £299.

Main thing for me is battery life, any spec will do what you need from that description.

got my acer from them too. They also operate under acernotebooks.co.uk

Acer themself are spot on, replaced my motherboard cause the power socket was dodgy and gave me a free power supply after my warranty was up saving me £80.

the ones in Tescos are seriously bottom spec though. 512mb on Vista is not good. The Acers tesco have i think are the ones that laptopsdirect do for 249

nah have seen higher spec'd ones too, Ally was tempted to buy one in Inverness on a roadtrip it seemed such a good deal
