NEED A ZYMOL EXPERT

  Mondeo STTDCI

Ok, I have been looking into Zymol for AGES now in preparation for getting a new motor and I wanna treat it nice, but have avoided buying Zymol as the product range is SO confusing to a new user IMHO.

So...a few questions if someone could answer....

1) The Zymol Cleaner Wax

http://erc.qmuc.ac.uk/cliosport/gallery/full/1082972892__zymol_cleaner_wax.jpg

that u can get from speeding.co.uk and i understand Halfords. Am I going to notice a difference between using this stuff and the "proper" stuff. I mean a difference to justify the price difference here!

2) The Cleaner from speeding.co.uk

http://erc.qmuc.ac.uk/cliosport/gallery/full/1082973016__zymol_wash.jpg

Is this the same cleaner they give u in the packs or is it another "cheaper" version.

3) How long would a starter kit last me? Its £100 or thereabouts nd the bottles are like 250ml a piece. So is it gonna last me a couple of weeks or a month or what?

4) On an arctic blue 182 would I buy the cream wax for lighter cars, or the carbon wax? or the titanium? lol I would use the car everyday so it sugggests on http://www.vertar.comwww.vertar.com that i go for titanium

5) whats all this HD Cleanse and HD wash and autobathe about? One is a paint cleaner? is that just a shampoo or what? basically HELP on that one im confused.

6) Just looking at it it seems to me that the bottle sizes for the complete kit and the starter kit are the same for the main stuff, just with the complete kit u get all the fancy brushes and that. am i right in saying that? i dont need the fancy bits just want the basics would a starter kit suit me?

Thanks in advance!

Hip,

I use the Zymol Cleaner wash, then the Cleaner Wax, then round it off with Meguires Gold Class wax, the finish is great!!! Im sure your 182 will look top notch if you use the above!!

Just buy the one in halfords, its fine for everyday cleaning.

Seriously now,if you are a complete anorach then yeh spend £100 on wax but i will give you money if you can tell the difference between the halford stuff and the dear stuff.

I was once an anorach and took great pride in my cars but spent too much money on pointless stuff like autoglymn super dooper waxy laquer and showroom crap that really doesnt work.

Just a quick question. Is your car garaged at night or open to the elements?

If its left out at night then you are just waisting your time and money. The simple best way to get a great shine on your car is to repeat often and build up your level of wax on the car.Spending silly money is not a quick fix to make your car new again

By the way i now use the halfords zymol and spray each panel with a fine mist of water and buff it up.It really is exellent stuff.

It really is up to you but why spend money on a hd cleaner for paint when your car is new.Just spend time and get a few coats on it and youll see what i mean.

1. the cleaner wax from Halfords is a polish like Auto Glym and will act as a very fine cutting compound. The proper cleaner is HD cleanse and this is not a cutting compound at all - all it does is cleans the paint ready for applying the wax.

2. The cleaner isnt the same as the proper stuff as it is a lot stronger. You can still use it - just dont put a lot of it in the water so it wont be as strong.

3. The starter kit will last for ages. The wax will do the car at least 10 times as you only need to use a small amount of it. The HD cleanse will cleanse the car 3-4 times, but you dont have to cleanse the paint before every wax application. The wash shampoo will last??? - depends how often you wash your car!

4. I would use the Carbon wax over the cream, but if you want to spend a bit more then you could go for the Titanium or Concours wax. The Titanium and Concours have a tougher finish than the Carbon wax.

5. HD cleanse is the cleanser and autobathe is the shampoo for washing the car.

6. The starter kit is all you really need. The full kit just comes with extra bits that you dont need to get started.

It really is good stuff and a lot better than Auto Glym etc.

the stuff from halfords or speeding, isnt zymol, its turtle wax rebranded and with a new smell in it.

also take a look at meguairs and mothers ranges...

its very good stuff, and smells amazing, you will get a brilliant finish if your prepared to spend the time on it, but once you have applied it, it will be very little work the next time you clean the car.

answers to

3,i have had the same starter kit for over a year and still loads left, the wax itself is stil 2/3 full.

4. you should buy carbon or titanium, the choice is upto you, do not buy creame.

5. right hd wash is basically a shampoo, then you use hd cleanse, this is basically takes of all old wax, muck, etc, then you apply the carbon wax, the hd cleanse is only used a few times a year and its only used because the wax has no cutting compound in it.

6.try the starter kit, your basically paying extra for the fancy box

I bought the meguires crystal pack - 3 stage application on special offer from speeding - £20 for the 3.

Used it at weekend - the shine is marginally better than the usual autoglym, zymol stuff (used em all) but the finish is superior - so slippy its untrue!

Well worht a look imho!!

YES - apart from that the tub of proper wax lasts about 5+ years easy so it works out actually better value, you need very little of it to wax a car

2) The Cleaner from speeding.co.uk.....Is this the same cleaner they give u in the packs or is it another "cheaper" version.

Cheaper Version

Couple of months easy, the wax will last the longest and the shampoo the least amount, however when that runs out switch to Meguairs Gold Class as its just as good and far cheaper

4) On an arctic blue 182 would I buy the cream wax for lighter cars, or the carbon wax? or the titanium? lol I would use the car everyday so it sugggests on http://www.vertar.comwww.vertar.com that i go for titanium

Either probably, personally the Carbon, go to http://www.scweurope.comwww.scweurope.com and ask on there, the Titanium is harder to apply i think

5) whats all this HD Cleanse and HD wash and autobathe about? One is a paint cleaner? is that just a shampoo or what? basically HELP on that one im confused.

HD Cleanse is like a polish in a way, it prepares the surface for the wax, its not like a shampoo

Yes, ive purchased more wax pads, towels, and microfibre cloths later on but the kit is more than enough to start with

Thanks in advance!

...right that zymol cleaner wax is horrible...it dries to white paste residue and is a pain in the ass to clean out once its stuck in some nook and crannies....without a doubt the best stuff ive ever used is meguires...if you wanna treat your baby right then go for the 3 stage deep crystal system..or the new NXT tech wax,....which is polish and wax all in one and gives you fantastic results...hate to link to other sites ..but hers some meguires pics!
