Need Help With Pug 307 Stereo Fit

  Skoda Fabia vRS
right, customer came into our shop today having been to Halfords, he has a 53 plate 307

he had bought a stereo which they tried to fit and when connected the car wouldnt start, it would turn over, and his central locking wouldnt work, they found out a fuse had blown which they found and replaced, they then stopped doing the fit, not being sure if a lead was needed on the vehicle

ive had a look at it, the OE harness is on ISO blocks, though they dont seem to be wired in the usual manner

first of all when tested it has 2 permanent lives, both of which are in the pins for the usual +'s, as in perm live and ignition live

BUT, it has another live which comes on when the ignition is on, and this is in the pin which the orange illumination wire usually connects to

being a fairly new vehicle i thought it might have a CAN BUS system and need some other lead that might pass through some other circuit back out of the stereo and on its way, but looking online i can only find reference to this when it comes to making the steering controls work, not just changing the stereo

i didnt want to just connect it, as the 3 lives worried me, and 2 perm lives

right these are on multiplex wiring, they are not both permanent, one is permanent, the other is a timed ignition, the 3rd is for the multiplex system (unsure if you know what it is) order a lead from citroen- peugeot dont do it yet, part number 957684 iirc its around the 4 quid mark, sorts the problem of the multiplex wiring, the radio will then be turned on and off by the unit,or connect the ignition from the radio to the cig lighter as this is ignition live, hope that helps :)

ps hope your using a multimeter not a prick tester
