Need Some Help Please!!!!

Hi everyone.

Just need some advice and information about a incident that happened to me last night :dapprove:

I Drive a 55 plate renault clio 1.4

I was driving from my house as u do, to tesco to get some things. I was on a 30mph road and i was only doin about 25mph, when i saw a black and brown dog on the pavment at the left side of the road, i didnt pay any particular attention to the dog, but as i travelled further down the road the dog ran very quickly in front of my car, from the left side of the pavment. So i turned the car sharply to the right and then to left so the car would be straight again, as i turned back into the left the car started to slide from the back end and it then hit the curb (pavment) on the right hand side of the road. As this all happened very quickly the side seat airbag went and the seat belt tenstioner tightened and held me in.

When i got out of the car the wheel at the back (driver side) was bend inward at the bottom with a big chip out of the alloy. nothing else was damaged.

HERE IS A DIAGRAM OF WHAT HAPPENED:

What i need to know is:

Does anyone know if the car is a write off or jst needs a whole new back axle, wheel and seat????

PLEASE REPLY
THANKS

My mate had a similar incident in his valver except he wasn't dodging a dog, just lost it on a tight bend and slammed onto the opposite curb doing about 50mph and it was a high one. Both wheels driverside were bent/angled in. Thought it was going to be a write off but the insurance paid for it to be jigged and had new alloys. This was in 1997 though, so the value of the car was more, didn't seem to be a major problem.

  car? need a license 1st!
it depends on how hard you hit the kurb, and at what angle.. it can do little damage, but then it can rip your back axle out.

I would suggest taking it to a private garage and getting them to have a look.. they'll be able to tell you whether it's worth repairing..

Sorry to hear that :(

  MERCEDES CLS AMG
It may need the following depending on the extent of the damage and the insurance assessor

new rear axle £497.26 + vat
new wheel £120.00 + vat
new tyre 185 / 55 / 15 eg £56.00 + vat
new airbag computer £135.90 + vat
new seatbelt pre-tensioner £79.45 + vat
new seat airbag £211.30 + vat
new seat upholstery ( some places re-stitch ) £621.81 + vat

worst case scenario - jigging

Labour over £1000

This is a guestimate and may be more are less - its very unlikely the car will be wrote off

To repair the car yourself will be very easy and can be done for well under £500
