Need some MOT advice

Hi everybody, need a little bit of help..

My mates 1.2 Clio went in for an MOT yesterday and it failed on the Macpherson struts. Apparently there was excessive movement in the upper support bearing assembly.
The car is 4 years old with 35k on the clock.

dose this sound a little odd to anyone??
and what is a Macpherson strut????

Any help would be great.
Thanks

Macpherson strut is the type of suspension configuration.....very, very popular and used on most cars these days.

Does sound a little odd for the top mounts to go so soon but my old 19 16 valver had problems in this area too....could just be a common Renault glitch.

Chances are you just need new bushings on the top mount. If thats the case, its pretty common indeed.
