Need sorting out with some advice

OK. I want more power in a nutshell. I love my clio to bits around the clear country roads but in a straight line and overtaking things get boring and dangerous!
I was 18 in December and have been driving just over a year. Im thinking Valver, but as soon as I do I think insurance. Would it be worth the insurance for an older car?
Now the second option is Fiesta Zetec S because of the very friendly insurance. I know its not as fast as it should be but compared to mine should be fast! I love the look of them too.
Im thinking Zetec S is the way to go due to insurance at my age and theyre newer too.

What would you guys suggest?

Have a shop rrund for 172 insurance and work out the difference might not be that much.

Then buy a mk1 172. No need to spend your money making 172 look alike then. Plus uprated brakes etc all for free

  Fiat Coupe 20v turbo

172 would be silly money to insure at 18, It depends what you want really a valver will cost more to maintain than a Zetec-S but is fair bit faster. Also the Zetec S(low) is only 0-60 in 10 secs and 120 ish top speed so may not be (that) much faster than your car. Get a couple of insurance quotes and see what you can afford.

yeah i suppose things will keep going wrong on valvers. ive got a 1.2 (8valve) and the zetec will be a lot quicker surely. theres also bluefin and loads of engine mods available for the zetec engine.

Mk 1 172 with specialist insurer and put your Mum on as named driver - it WILL be less!

OR??

a dCi 80? stonking mid range (145lb/ft compared to about 80lb/ft in 1.2) hence overtaking is swift!

50-70 in 5th? about 15 secs in 1.2 8V, 9.6 in a Dci 80, 9.9 in Mark 1 172 (Top Gear mag 2000), only 8.5ish in 182!

- PLUS group 5 or FREE insurance, 18K servicing, £80 a year Tax, 70 mpg (60 thrashed).

I paid £9800 NEW with air & metallic and got 3.4% finance from Reno.

I reckon youd easily save £1000 + in running costs a year over 172 (insurance, fuel, servicing, tax)

NO - Top Gear April 2000. It quoted 6.9 for 0-60, but in gear was slow!

group test - 50-70 in 5th (secs)

Ford Racing Puma 9.5

Integra Type R 8.6 (quick motor)

Clio 172 Mark 1 9.9
