neon lights

  astra coupe 2.2

ok guys have a good idea, i wanna put some nice blue neon tubes in my clio, probably four of them. 2 in the back seat area, 1 in the passenger side - under the seat or by the fuse box and one under the drivers seat. i have seen them in halfords for about £16 (cant remember if they are in pairs). Now this is the good bit, i wanna cut the cigarette lighter connector thing off the tubes and hook them up to the interior light, so when i open the doors... nice calming blue lights!! do you think it will work or blow all the fuses in the car!!! ideas, comments info please

my personal opinion would be dont bother. They normally arent done correctly and look tacky as....

but if u are determined, then dont buy them from halfords as they bloody cost a mint compared to Maplins. Their like a fiver each. My opinion wuld be install them where the ey cant see the tube itself, one in each footwell upfront, under the trim tacking them or glueing them or even tieing to stop them from moving. As for the back i cant think of a better way of pimping ya car out than a curtousy light replacement bulb in the ceiling, as there are no real ideal places apart from under the front seats, and theyll probaaly get kicked and shortd or broke etc with feet and seats moving back and forth.

YOU CAN EITHER TAKE OUT THE BULBS AND BUY GLASS PAINT, OR if u want to go to the extreme, fit some led;s in there, some extreme intense ones, or better again, to really stand out in a croud, buy some ultraviolet sensitive tints, installed by a professional ofcourse, and an uv light in te ceiling, and the black tints will turn white everytime the light comeson, and u could connct that up to the bass in your car.

if there aint enuf ideas there to get u stimulated, then i give up. Nevertheless, i would still say dont bother, subtle it always better. :) good luck with it though

them halfords neons are £16 each. Id rather go for the autoleads ones for £20 from good car audio shops. Definately a better choice

I got neons and neon bolts in my clis boot, and used the existing boot light to power them. I disconnected the switch which turns the light on when open the boot so they dont come on during the day to save the battery. i then simply put a single flick switch on the positive cables on the interior light so now can switch them on and off when i want.

I wouldnt go to over the top with the neons inside rest of car though, one of my mates has got them everywhere and looks bit pointless really in footwells unless you don;t know your pedals that is!!
