  1.6 Focus, 1.6 122S
As above really,

I have recently got myself a Canon 350D

The lenses I got with teh camera:

Canon EFS 18-55
Canon EF 90-300

My Old Lenses:

Canon EF 35-80
Canon Ultrasonic EF 75-300

Which lenses should I use and any tips for me?

If you are not happy with manual.
Then stick it on Shutter Priority and set the shutter above 250 sec.
Iso around 200/400.
At least most stuff will come out sharp , tomorrow should be bright enough.
Just watch out for exposures of stuff in the sky.....things might get under exposed if you meter from the sky itself.

^ and if your not happy with that, just stick it in Auto!

Rather get a sizeable collection of reasonable pictures than completely f**k up on manual and coming out with nothing.

above 250 sec what you shooting a f1 car. 1st time out auto mode will be plenty, shutter priority only needed when shooting moving objects i.e. motorsport events and even then you dont need a shutter above 1/320 sec.
Auto will adjust ISO but if it a nice clear day and you playing with the shutter speed on the TV setting keep it to ISO 100 other tip is to up the manual exposure by 1 notch.
Any question pm me Ive had a 350 a few years ago now got a 40d, 1dmk2 and 1dmk3

the words DSLR = AUTO....should never ever mix.....!!!

The moment you stick things in Auto...they have a mind of there own.

NO camera not even A mkll or D3 would cope with say a balloon back lit in the sky in P mode...unless you know what you are doing.
I said shutter priority + 250th/sec is because the guy is noob...and noobs on DSLR tend to get a lot of camera shake when starting out.

i advised this so he can at least enjoy his day out with the camera knowing 95% success hit rate.
Give him more chance to concentrate on composition etc.
He also owns a 90 -300mm lense which I very much doubt is a F2.8....so again we need to afford him the best chance of getting sharp images by upping his s/speeds.
P/Auto won't take all this into account.

And all this expertise coming from a guy owning a mklll......!!! shame on you ANDRE
these guys "want" to learn Photography.....so lets get them off of P/AUTO and into the real world....TUT TUT

Hate to point this out but unless I'm being stupid P or TV at 1/250 won't cope any better than each other with a back lit balloon as I'm sure you aware :p but thats a whole new area of photographer.

Bickering aside, since this must have happened a few days ago be good to see what worked..

Well I hate to let you all down, but the flight was cancelled.

However, has been resheduled for this Saturday morning, take off at 5am.

I'll be trying to empoly all of what people have mentioned so if you have more to say, fire away!

I think you would be pretty appalled at just how many photos I take using P (Program) Mode!...although I hate AUTO, which adjusts ISO and other stuff.

Away from Motorsport and a few other specialist things where I really experiment, I'm as lazy as it gets. I will always remember winning a competition and the magazine wanted me to describe how I did it, I think they were expecting a 10 minute set-up, light meter, tripod and god knows what else...when in reality I never spend more than a second or two planning and taking a shot.

I mostly use AP, occaisonally SP, and when i want a bit more control, I'll use manual.

Just practice first and see what your comfortable with. The last thing you want to be doing is messing around in manual not really knowing what you're doing when you could be taking pics.
