Im 21 years old and live in stoke on trent,
I passed my driving test at 19 and have driven a very dull but AMAZINGLY reliable 2001 Seat Ibiza 1.4. My dad's last two cars have been lagunas although he has had his fair amount of problems he still rates Renault.
I currently only work part time work as i study at staffs uni. With this in mind i do not have the cash to spend on a a crazy wreck less car.
Basically my car is probably worth £1500 and i can add another £1500 towards this. 172 is well known as a VERY capable car. My mate loved his for his 3 weeks of ownership until he smashed it up in a country lane :rasp:
So im here to learn about the 172. Will 3k get a good example? They represent amazing value for money for only 3k imo.

i dont realy know much about the 172's, a 106 gti might be another option? 3k would get you a mint one and imo alot rawer than the clio
