New and looking at buying clio Dci

Hi, new on here - always come to the forum of whatever car I'm buying as its the only place to get honest answers!

Thinking of getting a clio Dci 100 or 80, want the cheap tax and MPG.
Used to have a fiesta TDCi 1.4 wich was fine apart from the really crap power!

Questions I have, is the 80 good enough or am I better trying to get the 100 ( less of them) or would an 80 with a tuning box be as good as the 100?

Anything to watch out for? reliabitly issues?

Looking at 03 -05 plates and seem to be going for £2500 - £3500 which isnt bad for the power/tax band/spec (would have to have AC)

Also do they ride OK on 17" wheels, no rubbing etc?

thanks in advance :)

80 is the one to have apparently due to better gearboxs, and don't get 17"s

Getting a 100/80 with AC, you'll be waiting a fair while!

Remap will always be better than a tuning box, plenty of info on cliodci.net I think it is.

16"s are good, generally concensus is 17"s look to big on mk2 clios.

Hi - there are a fair few out in autotrader land and on the 'bay
couldnt warrant £300 odd for a remap - dont mind shelling out £70 for a box that can be resold for £30 odd once change time comes around.

Tbh from experience of spending loads on a set of 16's, then a set of decent tires, only to sell them further along the line; all I'm going to do in future is stick to cheap 15" wheels, £130 for a full set of tires delivered and I get mine put on free so simples.

£5/600 for a set of 16's with a set of tires
£300 for a set of 15's with tires

There's your £300 for your remap ^ ;)

Have a good look through here; http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?331979-Non-Sports-In-Here..

Yes that does add up :) just thought 16s would fill the arches a bit better, nice set of wheels always tranforms a car better that any other mod!

Only way you'll really fill the arches as such are lowering it on coilovers. Which again are money out, probably £3/400 quid for a decent set second hand but it's always better buying new for that kind of stuff.
