New battery...

I got a new battery today for the fooked one in my valver, put it in and connected the wires and nothing. Is there something you're meant to do first with a new one? I've taken off the blue and red covers but no power to the car at all.

The battery should be ready to go. Have you checked the alternator etc ?

No, I haven't. Are there any signs of it not working just by looking at it.

I had the old battery in yesterday and tried jump starting it with my other car and it was trying to but not firing up.

Any ideas? Since putting the new battery in, there is no power inside the car, no lights come on, nothing.

Not sure on fuses, gonna get a haynes manual to check the electrics etc.

What do you mean by polarity? Sorry, completely new to clios!

are the clamps tight on to the battery ?

had a problem with my mums corsa the other week where it would jump start fine but not from the battery did a few checks and found that then neg at the batt wasn't a good connection so gave it a clean and tightened it up and it was perfect then
