New canon lens suggestions for my 7D

  Lunar Mk1 & Flamer
Right just got this new 7D its fantastic but now more than ever im noticing that i now need a better lens to get the most from the camera.

Currently have:
18-55 kit lens...dunno why i have this..not worth anything so meh
17-85IS i had with my 40D still really like this.
75-300mm mkIII
Sigma 10-20mm f4.5-5.6
50mm f1.8

What would you replace?

Considering a 24-70 L and a 100-400 L

Opinions?

24-70L is a superb lens - had one for a while, however IMO they're better ranged for a full frame camera such as the 5D - I found it a bit long most of the time.

If you've got the money I always wanted a 16-35mm f2.8L for the close up work and carry around lens, and a 70-200 2.8L for the longer work. You can always keep the 50mm 1.8 or upgrade to a 50mm 1.4 for the middle prime area if you wanted

That being said I chose the 70-200 2.8L because it's a pretty awesome portrait lens and good for static car shots - if you're just doing track work then the 100-400L might be better

All really depends on what you're using the camera for - but if you sold all those budget lenses and bought the two you're after that's a hell of an investment lol

I agree with Phil that 24mm is not really wide enough on a crop, but you have the UWA too, so could get away with it.

The 75-300 is the weak link in that set. It depends on how much you need the range, but either a 70-200 or 100-400 would be a decent replacement.

Can recommend the 17-55mm, use it on my 7D - the build quality (plastic) leaves a little to be desired however the glass is of L lens quality.

17-55 f2.8, was epic on my 40D.

What long lens depends on what you shoot. Used to also have the 70-200 f4 non IS, was always a spot on.

Once you've got two quality zooms I'd consider adding a nice prime but again, depends entirely on what you shoot.

i have the 17-55 f2.8 on my 7d and its a great lens, also have the 70-200f4 and this also is a great lens. I have a 24-70 and am not as impressed with it as i am the 17-55.

Maybe a 10-22 for some nice wide angle shots, produces some nice shots, i used it a lot in antarctica.

17-40mm f4, 50mm 1.8, 100-400mm?

That would cover everything, 17-40mm for landscape and travel, 50mm for portraits, projects, walk around etc, 100-400mm for motorsport, wildlife etc.

After 6 years, 4 systems and about 30 lens I've concluded that less lens = good. 24-105mm f4 and 100-400mm is all I have now (full frame, so 24mm is fine), I couldn't imagine owning anything else.

I have a 100-400 which i use for my airshow photography, as it gives me the longer reach that i need. Its a great bit of kit i use it with my 7D. Very sharp even at 400mm.
