I always take the bhp with a pinch of salt but 196 at fly so will be more than 200bhp going by the other results on the day they weren't putting out wild readings

And that makes you an expert in the field of passing comments regarding rolling roads.

Hai Sarcasm

No expert, but i do know a bit about them and it doesnt take a rocket scientist to know that an exhaust does not add an extra 30bhp, hence the rollers question

Your right it doesnt, but no two cars are built the same so there is nothing to suggest that Garys VXR didnt run a 224bhp.

Dastek live rolling roads are notoriously accurate, my car ran 172bhp in 3rd in the same place and ran 176bhp in 4th in a different place (with the same rollers), take from that what you will but imo, its a decent indicator to power figs.

No two turbo cars will run the same power, any RR tech worth his salt will tell you the same.

Well going by the figures from the rest of the cars on the day its about right, everyone that ran got what they expected apart from me

Your rep did well ;)

LOL!

Awwww. *Hug* lol Think anything is up with it Danny?

Nah its running sweet as a nut, i used to think that figures meant everything a few years ago but now its about drive-ability for me... Theres definatley nothing wrong with it, it ran 176 on the same rollers in Hillington Estate in 4th gear (instead of the 3rd they ran in Extreme) which by ratio method is about right!

It feels good to me so im happy, i just anticipated that it whould have been atleast the same n 3rd as before but never mind

Yeah mate i agree, Aslong as it feels good then no real reason to look into the numbers in great detail. The 182 looked good in that colour btw. Never seen Arctic blue in person before!

Aye couldn't say it better Danny

Yip agree Gaz

You own this car prior? You know anything on the Courtney sport sticker in the engine bay? Just a sticker or any work been done?

Yeah I had it when it was brand new, till bout 13k miles. I put that sticker on when I put the courtney sport panel filter in.

Ah well that makes sense then! Cheers for clearing that up for me!

And here was us thinking it had been re=mapped or something crazy. :(

Vxr sold and onto my 2nd 172 cup! Thread will follow when I get some pics

But it is known on here :)

I had one of these and despite it probably not being as fast as the Clio on track, I'd have one back again in an instant, except with 17" wheels this time, instead of the 18s.

With decent suspension and an LSD, the VXR would rock. One day :(

FWIW on the power figures, they will not make more than around 200bhp without being remapped (pre-cat delete and sports cat being the only real performance hikes). Remap would see you to around 220-230bhp depending on where you go. I would suggest that either it was already mapped or the RR isn't accurate (although, I favour the former).

A clio with coilovers and an lsd would crap all over the corsa.

See, you need to be objective here.

The VXRs downfalls are that the dampers are crap, and ~200bhp with the aid of a Turbo isn't easy to put on the road. Once you add new suspension+geo (I didn't say coilovers - just decent dampers/properly rated springs would suffice, I'm certain) and the LSD you have a car that is easily capable of putting 250bhp+ down effectively.

The Clio could too, but the difference is that the VXR can hit 250bhp for what is relatively peanuts compared to the Clio.

So what you end up with is two cars that are fairly equally matched in terms of corner entry/exit speeds, but with a VXR that is faster once you're on your way out.

You should not underestimate the Corsa's chassis - it is let down by it's dampers and spring rates - it doesn't respond to inputs quick enough, and when it does, there is too much roll to be consistent. In terms of the rest of the chassis, the setup is very similar, single wishbone/McPh strut up front and rear beam with separate shock and spring at the rear. The VXR shell is specific to the VXR, and is plenty stiff enough. It also has the better brakes.

I do not wish to start a Clio vs. Corsa argument on here, there is just no need for it, but having had both, I feel I'm in a good position to offer a completely objective view.

Out of the box, the Clio is better and there is no doubt about it, but the Corsa doesn't require much to make it right, and really is sublime to drive as far as super-minis go.

fair doos matey, I've only driven a standard one, but it was absolutely diabolical. awful. If it can be sorted nice and easy then fair enough!

  182 Trophy
I wouldn't call it anywhere near diabolical, but it is certainly feels a lot more tame than the Clio.
