new cd player

Car  soon to be a 200
Never changed one before always used the standard head unit . Just need a head unit i can plug my i pod shuffle into the front still be able to use the steering wheel control . Price about £130 any ideas .

Not that easy within your budget. Alpine 9850Ri will do the job but you will blow your budget. It is the best Ipod unit IMHO as all the track and file data come up on the screen.
I think Halfords in Newmarket Rd have them for £175 and the audiolinx adaptors are about £40,.
You will need to remove the dash top to fit it. Get CBS to do it for you if you are not confident about doing that.

The Alpine 9850Ri doesnt work with the shuffle! the cheep option isbut one from the Sony Gt range. they start at 79.99 they have an auxilary in on the front.( a 3.5mm headphone socet) simly plug any MP3 player into it via and additional lead ( halfords £5.99( loads cheeper on ebay)). Also if you bug the GT200 @99.99 its free fitting !

Get an Alpine CDA (the A means it has an auxillery input). Without, iPod support (believe me, iPOD scrolling on any headunit I've used SUCKS, with a capital F).

I'm not talking Kenwood crap either, "Supposedly" £1000 Alpine DVD headunits, I was laughing asking the sales guy

"If this is full speed ipod support, what the hell is the normal one like????"

He didn't think it was slow:quiet:

I found it whilst typing the above..

^ The John Smiths of headunits.

Fantastic sound quality with no fancy "break in 13months" crap.

Only just realised it's a £130 budget....

Though I recommend eBay for things like this. Not as if buying used comprimises what it does in anyway.

Thats why I pointed him in the direction I did.
If budget wasnt an issue he could buy the 9861 Ri and he has the best of both worlds. I have just fitted one with sun visor monitors for a friend, DVD playback is brilliant and by using the KCA121B adaptor, I got his X-box working through it.
All the data from Ipod, music Cd, DVD rom, and of course the video output is displayed and controlled by the head unit. It also has quad colour display option.
Very impressive unit.

cda on alpine units does NOT mean auxillary input. it means A I Net connection on some alpine units. this can be used as an aux connection but only on later units!
