New clutch fitted, pedal feels very wierd

Hoping someone could shed some light on wether it just needs bedding in or something different. Had a new clutch fitted yesterday and all is as it should be except the pedal is very hard to use, its stiff to begin with but as soon as the clutch bites the pedal springs back to the top, making it almost impossible to pull away without stalling.

Hope someone could help, is it just because its new?

cheers

Doesn't sound right at all mate, the only thing you should notice with a new clutch is that the pedal is lighter than before and the bite point 'may' be a bit lower (auto adjustment anyway). Clio clutches get quite heavy/stiff with age but not from new, and as for bedding the new clutch in, you wont really notice much before and after, it may slip easier if you give it too much power as the friction disc and clutch cover/clamping and flywheel surfaces haven't 'bedded in' yet.

Probably better off taking it back to the garage who did the work and ask them to remedy it. Is it a uprated or race clutch you had fitted?
