Go to Fred. He knows what he's doing.Awaits two threads. One about a duff clutch change, one about a duff cambelt. Who can fix it?

Nothing massive by any standards. If the local place is much cheaper then sure. I do them on my driveway for half what a specialist will normally- doesn't mean if I was spending say £400 with a local garage or £450 with a specialist, I'd rather the specialist doing the work.

My quotes vary from £235 to £625.

Price difference is £100 for changing the clutch between TCR/BTM.

That's a fair chunk if you ask me, especially as I'm looking at getting my springs changed / cam belt done soon aswell.

I stand corrected, they are £40 cheaper as there quote didn't include VAT.

You quoted me £499 inc the clutch and they quoted me £360 labour only plus the clutch

  Dodgy one
and we're £450 all in?

Just out of interest Fred while we're on clutches mines going to be getting one too, would the price change with you if the customer was to supply a new box? I believe i've a leak on the casing the weekend will confirm, im hoping i can drive down at silly oclock in the morn, stay in a hotel and drive back the next day
