new engine advice

Hello all, this is my first post on the forum and I need some urgent help.
I took my 172 cup to Oulton park last Tuesday and blew up the engine it is beyond repair :dead:
The rest of the car is in good shape so im thinking of just buying a used engine of ebay and getting a local engine specialist to upgrade the pistons so on, ive got around £1500 to spend, im from the north west near Wigan any help would be appreciated

You won't get a forged build for £1500.

To give you an idea with rounded up prices, you're looking at 500 for new pistons, the same for rods, then you may want to consider getting the engine bored/honed if you don't know the history of the engine, plus bearings, gaskets, seals, oil pump, water pump, the price of a new cambelt kit (few hundred right there)... then add that to the price of the working engine PLUS the labour to do all of the above... it's way more than 1500 quid.
