New Engine

hi all

right i have been looking for quotes for a new engine for my 1.2 98 rt

i have had quite a few calls now and prices range from £120 to £450 not including fitting!!

i have just had a call from a guy in lancashire (or how ever u spell that place) and he has got one that has done only 4000 miles from a 99. it comes with 3 months warrenty.. the mileage will be shown on the invoice as proof.. this engine is for £250 inc vat and postage is £50

is this all just a joke or is it just a stroke of luck

any comments would be appreciated

He is pulling your pi55er mate - if it was anyone from our company i will bollock them. They stopped making the D7F 720 1.2 diet ( direct inj eng tech ) in 2001 so to have an engine thats only done 4000 miles is highly unlikely. These companies will tell you anything to get your money.

I have one thats £195 + vat - its from a 2000 x reg and has done a healthy 37k - i have the original clocks for the car and it comes with a warranty and receipt.

my car is going to the garage to the amount of damage that has been done ..if any (i hope)

i have been given a rough quote.. if the damage is not bad then to replace the cambet and valves and maybe pistons + labour he said i could be about £400

you won't get anymore than 3month warranty out of anyone on a second hand engine

go with MATT, we've had over 12engines off him!

55675 and i have only had the car for a month!!!

was so gutted when it happened.

i was going up a hill was about to change down to 3rd and heard a kluck and then i was no engine power.. luckly there wsa no one behind me!!

now its sitting on the drive at home
