New Engine

Don

  182 & LY Clio 220 ed
Hi, I have a clio 1.4 8v sport and was wondering if anyone knew of any places that would put new engines in?

I found this place:
http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=2098

But they cost £2500 to fit it but they change looms gear box, etc.

I'm not after a 2.0 182 engine as such but maybe a 16v and 1.6 (if it exists?)

There isn't too much difference (for the price) between a 1.4 and 1.6. If you mean the cars with 16v on the side...they're only 1.2s!

If you did upgrade to a 2.0 engine...you'd need to consider brakes and suspension upgrades to cope with the extra power...it would probably be cheaper to buy a 172 or 182 over a conversion.

Well, looks like your prob right. Its just my car was a cat-c repair so was looking to extend its life (paid peanuts for the car).

Can't find anywhere as cheap, but they do offer this:

'This excellent engine conversion is now available for all non-sport Clio 2 models as produced from 1998 to 2006 including 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6. The engine conversion uses a low mileage, guaranteed Clio 172/182 Sport 2.0 16v engine, ecu, engine wiring loom, gearbox, subframe, radiator assembly, front suspension and hubs to give the lesser models a huge increase in performance. This conversion is priced on a drive-in drive-out basis with all labour and parts included and is perfectly suited to those who have a highly modified car that now needs the performance to match.'

So looks like everything I need, but could do with better brakes. When I get the money I might haggle them to fit brakes free.

They do a 1.6 16V but IMo get the 2.0 or a bigger engine again or not at all for the cost.

They will fit the brakes they have to fit 172 brakes since there using 172 hubs.
Don't forget you also could do with remembering VAT plus service its you are best with a new clutch and cambelt etc so prices go up loads.
