New exhaust gotten louder?

  2003 Clio 172
I had my pro speed non resonated cat back exhaust fitted about a week ago, and at first was surprised that it was quieter than I expected. It had a nice raspy tone, but was not overly loud. I've since gone through a tank of v power, so just under 250 miles, and it's definitely gotten louder. I actually thought it may have been blowing, but it just seems like the volume has gone up. I actually prefer it now its louder, but is this a common thing? I've done a bit of a search am seeing conflicting information. Some people say exhausts need to bed in and they get louder, other people say they quieten down ?

It might depend. I always thought they got louder. No idea why.

When they get really old and bits of baffle start falling out they get louder still, I am fairly confident that's not what causes the initial volume increase though...

Apparently it's something to do with carbon build up, although I thought that would have the opposite effect. Either way, it's definitely louder and bassier than when it was fitted. Sounds epic ?
