New Fronts Fitted

As the title really, how many of you have fitted new fronts and how easy was it?

I am thinking of fitting new 5.25 inch fronts and then amping them, then getting a sub at a later date (have read that this is the best way to achive a good sound).

Also have any of you fitted new tweaters too, Ive heard that this is a bit of a pain in the a**

its reasonably easy - take the grilles off and have a look, it maybe that you have to take the door card off and cut away the pod like thing on the door card, but its easy.

For the tweets, depends where you put them, the best way is to put them on a long wire, and try them in different places, like top of dash, a pillars, in the kickwells ect, when you find the best sounding place decide how your going to mount them! i found that my tweets sounded rubish on the dash, but every speaker is different, it also depends on how serious you are.

If you just want to put the tweets in the stock posistion, remove the dash and have a look at the best way - when i did it i cutout the old tweeter and mounted the tweeters on top of the dash where the grilles would have been

Hope soe of that helps!

Is it actually neccessary to have to cut any thing out, as Id like to keep eveything looking pretty much standard, but just putting new speakers in, mainly to keep resale value and I dont REALLY have to be cutting the dash.

Is it not possible to just take the old tweeters out and drop new ones in? What size are the one that are in?

Cheers

well, as far as looking the same, i cut the old pods out, which are not a standard size, or circular IIRC (the tweter+ conections was a oval shap - maybe wrong though) so as for just dropping a new tweeter in, not sure. Also as for cutting the pods out of the door cards, makes no real difference when grilles are on, when removed, the only difference is you can see the metal work.

as far as the dash goes on mine, when it now looks just the same as i have replaced the tweeter grilles, as i have moved the tweeters.

Also, ive been very carefull not to do anything that will effect resale value 0 the only metal cut is for cabels, and any plastic trim i have cut, i will replace bofore selling. the lack of tweeters will be solved by putting some coaxil speakers in the doors, the only things bar the holes for cables that cannt be returned to original is the tweeters and sound deadening.

You could mount the tweeters on the surface of the a-pillars, this will be easy, with say double sided tape, and give good sound stage height.

But at the end of the day, it what you feel comfortable doing, and really it need you to have a look, IE remove the dash and see if it will fit ect. as i did that over a year ago, so my memory of it is sctechy!
