New gearbox, new problem

Car  2003 Clio Dynamique
I recently bought a 2003 1.2 clio dynamique, the car had an annoying clicking noise whilst driving, turned out to be the diff.

I took the car back to the seller and he said if i buy the parts he will fit them. I bought a gearbox from a 50.000 mile car and a new transmech clutch. Both the gearbox and clutch were fitted and i collected the car last night.

The clicking noise has gone but i struggle to select first. Also found that if i gear down from 4th to 3rd, it is hesitant to go in.

The knackered gearbox had a smooth gear change but now the only way of getting first is by not pushing the lever too far to the left and easing it in. Not ideal really.

Just looking for ideas of what this could be. The gearbox is under warranty so if it is that i can contact the seller.

Any info would be much appreciated.

If it's got warranty, why even bother?

Should you **** it up and break it, it'll then be your problem.

Gearbox not at fault and that is where the warranty is. Took it to my local garage and they adjusted the linkage rod, now much better. Would say it needs a fine tune but so much better.

But if they fitted the box and didn't align the linkage correctly then the fault lies with the fitting. That's what the warranty covers surely.

THIS ^

I had my gearbox done from some backstreet place in chertsey-

I now have 5 reverse gears & one forward one labelled 'R'

No mate, the warranty was with the box. The garage that fitted it did not supply the box, i did. Quite rightly so i should have returned the car to the place that fitted the box but i didn't as i trust the garage that made the adjustment to the linkage more lol...if that makes sense.

this does not matter, the error is in there workmanship, take it to them explain that 1st isn't aligned properly and they should sort it FREE of charge

Alignment down to garage , but If you supplied a duff box tough titty.
But any good garage would offer some discount on fitting another box if you supplied it.
