It over a £1k from Renault for a service exchange gearbox.
My box is on the way out and I'm going down the rebuild route. Quotes have been around £450+vat plus fitting.
that's about what i paid 'last time'. just make sure they FULLY rebuild it!
Whats involved to "fully" rebuild?
i don't know much at all about gearboxes but would read up or ask someone who does - bearings, synchros, etc
you could ask for some sort of itemised bill of the parts they've replaced? this is the problem with having anything reconditioned - you don't know what they have and haven't renewed - and different reconditioners will have different standards/views on what should be replaced

I think the quotes I have are just for the bearings as thats what I told them was wrong.

got a cup in at the moment, you can come and have a drive before we take the box out if you like its got side damage buy drives fine, 275 + Delivery.
Do you know how much new synchro's cost?

the gearbox runs fine, have driven it up and down our road to test it as best we can.

a brand new box from renault is £2500 i got a quote for my mate the other week and for a recon one from them is £900

jc-089 ph-1 gear box is not in production any more, if there is still some left in the UK that's another story but from France no.
jc-129 ph-2 cup gearbox w/o ABS sensor need. Around 2000 euros exc VAT, direct order from France. I know since I ordered a brand new cup gearbox lately. Costed me a fortune.
