New HU - advice

im aftter a nice new head unit. I havent really looked for them in 2 years so whats the latest stuff available?

Ive got up to £300 to spend.. i quite like the styling of the Sony units.

There is Alpine and then theres all the rest..........Get a Alpine, sound qual. is so nice and no silly animations on the display. After my new Alpine I would never go´back to something else.....

thanks guys, whats the new alpine one with the 2 line display?

am i right in thinking that the alpine units can be changed to over 200 colours ?

The CDA 9835, 9833 and 9831 have multicolor illumination, I would choose either 9835 or 9833 depending on the display you like and money you have/want to spend.....Bio-Lite display is awesome, just like a small screen instaed of the dot´s on normal H/U displays.

The reason im keen on the sony ones is because i already have the adapter for the stalk remote control.

Also, some of the Alpine ones say they work with the display in the car... do they come with the adapter for this or is it seperate like the sony ones?

id get the one with the screen mate! i looked at the other sony one but wasnt keen on it when it was open, and i dont like the apline ones! but the sony one with a screen is mint!

If you want awesome sound and control go´ for Alpine. Sony is alright but seems to go´ more for design than good sound IMO. Had Sony before and I would not go´back..........But then again I like my H/U to sound nice and with great control rather than using the power on insane animations and stuff.

Adaptors are seperat like the sony ones, and display interface is not released yet as far as I know. But the car display will only show basic info and not worth the extra ££ IMO.

if i get the sony TFT one then i wont have to buy a new stalk adapter cable. But i dont like the fact that you cant remove it.... so how is it protected? it says that its got a cover, has anyone got pics of this cover?

It´s not protected, but the cover will hide it away so it look like a black trim, but of cause it will be fairly easy to se if you know about the cover ect. If you don´t know it looks like nothing is there..........Get it if that the one you like and just remember the cover every time.

My Alpine media station has a cover too, looks like a black trim and at least you can´t see the unit from outside......
