Surely the market wont be there for people offloading these, when there is a new one just around the corner?

What sort of muppet would pay £300 this week when they will be worth a lot less im a week or sos time? Xx

I'm due for upgrade anytime so will see what Vodafone can do, otherwise I'm over to 3. No hurry to sell my 4 though, tis a fine performing machine.

Ill be upgrading when it comes out. I have a friend who is wanting my phone already and has offered £200 for a 16gb 4, im happy he's happy and no worrying about the prices dropping as he is willing to wait until i get my new one.

Screen looks much bigger and better, but then the sacrifice is the size of the device, obviously.

Holy s**t. Is that how long it takes for an iphone to boot up normally?

Also, they appear to have made the screen taller. My main thought is how narrow the iphone screens are compared to most others.

Please don't tell me you thought that video was real Scutch? :clown: The screen on the 'iphone5' is glued on, visible at 30 seconds! lol

Great, so I will need new docks, connectors and leads.

Ah well, never mind, this topic's been done plenty of times already.

Unless you buy the handy adapter, which should be made available at launch. The new 19pin connector is all to do with EU regulations I believe, so not solely down to Apple being sneaky and greedy. Although I'm sure that may have something to do with it.

Docks etc is moot. Just people moaning for the sake of it.

You'll get a new cable/charger with the phone. That's all you need. If you bought a dock previously then it wasn't going to fit regardless of the port change.

You don't HAVE to upgrade and if you bought any Android/Windows phone then they wouldn't fit either.

It's not my docking cradles or anything like that, I'm more thinking of the car stereo.

Actually, why am I even worrying abut that? I'll just keep using the 80gb classic! FFS Goodj, stop being a twart, you're just panic posting.

Anyway, on topic, yeah, I'll get one of these iPhone things, best get T-mobile on the horn!

Nope, the EU regulations are to do with a common charger interface, Micro USB.

This isn't micro USB, and therefore will still require an adaptor.

This is most likely partly about removing the historical crud from the connection (think all the way back to the very first iPod) but probably more likely about saving money. This new connector looks far cheaper to manufacture, saving a few pence here and there when you're shipping in the volume that Apple are soon adds up to a lot of cash.

Cool. Cheers for that mate.

I'm sure there will be an old to new convertor wire, will give a bit of extra length too I suppose. :)

I can always do with a bit of extra length! I imagine a new iPod cable should be fine, actually just runs off USB so hopefully the device will be compatible! Don't know how I'd update the headunit otherwise!

Lol, I was hoping for that comment.

The set up in my Golf results in a short wire, and without a lot of hassle, I can't be bothered to make it longer, so a conversion wire would give me the needed length, and convert to the new alleged connection point.

I can see alot of manufacturers being happy with the change of the connector. If you think about it hardy anyone needs a new dock if they already have one even from back in the iPod days, changing the dock connection allows them to build all new devices to sell.

It's not moaning for the sake of it, I'd bought into a technology and have a £300 dock I use to charge my phone at night and play music on, if I can't use it I'll be pissed.

That really isn't the point though.

A lot of us bought ipod/iphone docks believing if we stuck with apple we would be able to continue to use it.

Luckily my dock is a cheapo £50 one, but it combines a radio/alarm and makes charging by my bed very simple. Plus I don't really want to spend more money on the dock as it is perfect, but I do want the new iPhone (well I might)

If I had spent mega bucks on a Bose dock and added a £2k option to my ferrari to add an iPhone dock I would be mega pissed off.

I see the points people are putting across, but by buying a dock it doesn't contract apple to keeping the same design for 20 years. This is the first change and I imagine it will also be the last for a very long time to come (if it does change). I imagine it will be a very beneficial change to if it's one like the MBP charger style.

No one has to upgrade, and you can always wait a couple of years and stick with the 4S.

Exactly, it's a new phone. Were Apple going to stick with the same, mahooosive, dock connector forever?

It's progress. Short term pain for long term gain.
