New Key

saw this advertised on ebay:

for those who dont know, its a key for a MK3 Clio (2006 onwards model)

just wondering, is it possible that this key would work on my car, I know I'd have to change the blade for 1 similar to the Clio mk2 keyblade style but that should just be a case of swapping the blades over.

what I'm more interested to know is do the Clio 2 and 3 share the same immobiliser chip in the key? so that its just a case of reprogramming the Clio 3 key like you would a normal Clio 2 key. and as for the remote central locking buttons, could the just be reprogrammed to work as you would a Clio 2 key also, or is there more to it than that.

in a word no you asked this question before im sure, there ordered to vin number now and to obtain codes from renault now everything has to match is ok on your current clio due to them being black but clio 3s are not blank

BUT, as the key blades are different then I'd obviously be fitting a BLANK CLIO 2 BLADE to it anyway.

there'd be no need to order anything via the vin as I'd already have the key and blank blade, all I'd need to do was have my renault dealer cut the key blade to match mine and program the immob chip/remote locking part to my car.

really struggling to understand why it wouldnt be possible unless the immob chip and remote locking circuit board in a clio 3 key is completely different from that of a Clio 2 key which I strongly doubt.

I want to know where that guy on ebay gets all those keys. Not all from breakers surely?

im not on about the blade im on about the chip you cant program old keys to different cars now renaults system has changed, codes from renaults have to be obtained using the vin and a number given off clip for clio 3, clio 2 keys are blank and you just enter the vin and renault gives you the immob code, it is point less why do you want a clio 3 key anyway?

firstly the Clio 2 key looks crap, cheap and nasty, 2. the Clio 3 key looks really good, 3. the Clio 3 key has remote boot opening button on it.

I'm gonna go ask renault about the inns and outs of the clio 3 key and get them to explain why it wont work. I understand what your saying but I'd prefer to hear it in concrete from renault themselves.

p.s. will a key from a Megane/Scenic/Laguna work, not the keycard ones obv. the older one, found on like 51 reg Meganes/Scenics and W reg Lagunas. saw a few of these on the bay with the seller saying they will work on clios too.
