Not interested in all that macbook/ipad s**t.

Waste of money for what we'll use it for.

Bestbuy would be a good bet if there's a local one.

Idiot.

This is right up your street and well under budget .. ---> click me

Suck me dry.

Why do I want a macbook or an ipad??? I've got a 3 1/2 year old with dirty hands climbing all over the thing, I'm not interested in being 'cool' and I'm not interested in being technical.

I just want to be able to go on the internet, copy CD's for the van and watch youporn when she's in bed. Nothing less, nothing more.

Which a MacBook will do infinitely better than anything you buy.

You're a techo r****d, we're trying to help. Nobody has mentioned an iPad.

Go to your library for the internet, buy an iPod, sorry, 'walkman' - make sure it's a cassete player, then use your TV for all the porno needed....

And what else do I get for my £1000??

What makes it twice as good to warrant twice the price?

Tbh Daniel, a second hand apple job will better than most new windows laptops for the same money(£500ish)

They are easier to use, and tend to last better. My dad can barely turn the kettle on, even he finds the apple stuff easy to use. AND he's brown.

If you want a windows jobbie, I think the toshiba laptops are quite reliable for the money.

It's easier to use, it's faster, it's not going to crash every 5mins, it's going to last, it's not going to be plagued by viruses from the obscure p**n sites you visit and iTunes works far better.

You don't neeeeeed one, but you also didn't need that expensive Audi or the Clio 200. Good stuff costs.

I got what I use from PC world last July.

Can't say exactly what the processor spec is, but it's got 4gb RAM, a 500gb HDD, 17 inch screen and CD/DVD driver/writer. It's good enough for all you want plus it handles my video projects no problem.

They don't list mine anymore (got it last July, £399) but any one of these should do you...

I know the Apple fanboys won't believe it either, but running Windows 7 I've not once had a system failure that's needed a reboot, and as for viruses...WTF are they? I've never seen one on this machine and I surf dodgy p**n sites all the time.

Oh, and iTunes works just fine as well.

My laptop cost me about £700, Toshiba satellite.

It does exactly what Daniel wants, and I never considered anything made by Apple.

I've even sacked off Itunes as i sold my iPod. Car has a standard stereo, and my phone has a built in FM transmitter.

He wants a windows based machine, lets give him options.

You're a happy chappy today.

Whatever you get, make sure it's at least dual-core... That one's well under budget !

Ha! Had a s**t day, and she's going right off one about my temper again which only makes me worse... lol.

I just don't want a secondhand computer. I don't like secondhand stuff. And srring as I don't 'need' a macbook, I want the best laptopI can get for my circa £500.

Toshiba stuff then. Had nothing but problems with the hp stuff I've had in the past. Last one went terminal halfway through a Jenna jameson clip I spent ages looking for.

I'd like an apple job, but too much dollar for what I use it for. Buy a cheap laptop, and fit xenon's to the 200;).

I still think you should try a macbook.

Worth it for the trackpad alone, you wont actually believe how you lived without the trackpad, its pinpoint accurate and the gestures make everything you do on the computer so much simpler.

Have you considered second hand? ;)

Also because HP load theirs up with tonnes of crap, same as dell really, so normal procedure, for me atleast, is to format them as soon as I get handed them and start a fresh with just the stuff that I want on them

Oh yer and don't buy Dell's either, without my advice my mum bought herself one about 3 months ago and the hard drive failed last week and turns out its so common for the new inspirons that had a 5 minute phone call and they said without hesitation they would send a new hard drive

Which is the EXACT reason people have suggested a used MacBook. It'll do all that far easier than a clunky Windows PC, and be more reliable.

F*ck it though. Buy a Dell.

Thank you chris the cool kid.

Everyones spouting off with 'buy a macbook' but nobody has told me why yet???

I've asked which laptop I should buy. I didn't ask ''Shall I buy a macbook or a laptop''.

Fair enough if going to recommend a macbook, but at least back it up with something.

No worries mate, and I've dealt with that idiot, as you can see.

They're superb 'layman's machines' and are vastly easier to operate for the non-techie, which I know you are. ;)

Seriously, you'd be more (or less) productive, and it'd last longer... and not be worthless when you're done with it.

That interests me. Someone has just pm'd me offering the same advice.

Before the little prick got all mouthy, I was about to point out that the macbook I was looking at on Amazon was £900 odd quid.

Am I barking up the wrong tree??

Wheres the best place to look at these online? I paid nearly £700 for my laptop 4 years ago and its worth about 4p now.

I bought a HP 2 years ago, was £550, i bought it cos i liked the "swirls" on the case, internet works fine, i can type, can burn music/dvds, fine when i need a tug to youporn etc, still does all this fine, really don't see how spending twice this on a MAC would be any better.

MAC is a brand of makeup.

Macs do everything better, you'd know this if you gave them a chance rather than get hung up on the price EVERY SINGLE TIME.
